I would do it, but my mailbox is probably 5 inches deep at the most. So, I won't chance it. I see my postal worker all the time, so I could ask (and yeah, cookies will help), but if they don't fit, they don't fit.

Do they come bagged and boarded, or just bagged?

When I was subscribed back in high school, they came to my (somewhat larger) home mailbox with bags and boards. But the bags are disposable plastic sleeves that you have to tear open to get to the comic, not the kind of bags you'd put in a longbox.

You can try, but I doubt it. Plus, if folks see such golden treasures on the ground, they might be tempted to steal them. I am amazed that you don't hear about more Netflix movies being taken since they are so obviously marked.

I live in Sarasota FL, or as my friend calls it, "God's waiting room". All my neighbors are either not here 6 months out of the year, or they're 65 and older. I'm not worried about Walter or Beatrice stealing my comic books.

As far as stealing Netflix, who would want to? I mean, chances are it's Hannah Montana or something equally stupid anyway, so why bother? Unless you're a kleptomaniac.

You know what? Why don't you just subscribe to one book and see how it goes? That way you're not investing huge amounts. You like it, you stay and add more. You don't? You're not out a whole lot.

I say go for it. Just choose somethng you don't mind coming a little late. They were usually only off by a week or so.

Funny, my six subscriptions from Marvel are constantly coming 3-6 weeks late and they don't give a damn.

I subscribed for the first time to six titles in July this year. I have still yet to receive issue #601 of The Amazing Spider-Man or #514 or #515 of Uncanny X-Men. I have however received #602-604 ASM.

I started politely emailing them after around 3-4 weeks (of their respective release dates) as to why they haven't showed up yet, while other titles have been coming in (late also). They made me wait 2 or 3 weeks after my initial complaint before they would comply and send out a second copy of ASM #601. I have just reached past their deadline to re-ship Uncanny #514, so I will be emailing them on that one next.

In email correspondence they told me it was normal to receive issues out of order sometimes, i.e. ASM #602 and 603 before #601. Then they tried to pull that on me with Uncanny X-Men, a monthly title. Marvel support tried to blame my mail service for the delays. FWIW, I live in a nice suburb of the Twin Cities, with exceptional mail service. Of all the issues I've had delivered so far, my delivery person has brought them to my door each and every time rubber banded (not bend) to the rest of my mail.

Marvel customer service makes me want to punch a hole in the wall, but saves me 30-60% off titles. My LCS owner gives me a 15% discount, and makes me laugh when he makes fun of the anime geeks in his store. LCS guy wins my business after the subscriptions run out.

I may seem bitter, but that's only because I am. <3 Marvel and will continue to read, but NEVER will subscribe again. I told them that if they can not do anything to improve my experience as a customer I will never renew my six subscriptions, or make it 2x that by subscribing to the rest of my Marvel books. They didn't even respond to that comment. That was probably the one thing that angered me the most.

3 to 6 weeks late AND out of order? That sucks! I can kinda, sorta understand shipping problems with ASM with it being a weekly thing, but on a regular normal monthly? No way. And then on top of that, customer service doesn't even care enough to respond? Wow. Way to run a business.

Yeah, I think I'll take a nice pass on that.

That sounds awful. I don't recall it being that bad when I subscribed, but then I converted to my LCS when the scripts ran out, out of frustration between lateness and bending. I don't know if some place like Mile High would be late, but ya gotta figure that they would have to ship from the day the books came out so you shouldn't be more than a week behind on any given title. Plus, like I said, you'd be able to order from DC and the independents too, all from the same place. You get what you pay for I guess. I'd rather pay a little more and get the books I want when they come out.

I am currently subscribed to X-men forever and my books come usually a week late. I didnt get issue 6 or 7 and had to call them. They said for some reason both books were shipping last friday. On Tuesday I got issue 7 but no issue 6.

As bad as my service has been with my subscriptions, #6 arrived quite a while ago and #7 arrived either last Thursday or Friday. XMF #7 showed up within ~8 days of release, so far the only book that showed up in under 2 weeks, but I can promise you that both books were shipped out well before last Friday.

What it appears to me after having to deal with their stalling 5-6 weeks after release to reship two of my comics is that they simply made that up about those books shipping last Friday to buy time for yours to hopefully show up and save the money of re-shipping on their end. If you get the same treatment I got when you call or email them about #6 not showing up, I am going to predict they try stalling one more time in hopes of the book actually showing up at your door.

It's a shame that Marvel felt they had to tell that particular lie. Have you ever mailed ANYTHING and it take 2-4 weeks? When my bro was in Iraq, I mailed him stuff 2-3X a week, and it never took more than a week. Not once. When I mail my friend in LA, it never takes more than 2-3 days.

Considering, at one time, I was getting most of my subs before Wednesday, sometimes as early as the Friday before, I know that it's possible for Marvel to do this. The fact that they won't indicates that they're not as serious about their sub department as they let on.

As much as I love the cost savings, I've been letting all my subs expire. If Marvel wants to start taking it seriously again, I suppose I'll get them again.

But shame on you, Marvel, for hiding behind the Postal Service like that.

I'd blame Marvel, not the post office. It's clear they are consistantly late, no matter who they send to. I wonder if any subscriber got all their books on time all the time. I somehow doubt it. I sure didn't.

I just got a code for a FREE month of Marvel Digital Comics. I'll post it up if it's cool, I don't want Corpy to get upset...It works. I just signed up. You do have to enter your credit card, but as long as you cancel within the month, you should not be charged. The code expires Sept 30, so again, if it's cool, you can digitally read free comics for a month. Corpy?
