Interesting find Ryuuie. I hadn't thought about that. The used price of the Gold Edition will be super crazy now.

I doubt they'll stop selling UA2 outright, but you are right, this will probably mean no gold edition.

This also breaks M:UA 2's online for anyone who's gotten the game after the DLC was removed. A lot of people DID get the DLC and for those who did not, you cannot play with those who did.

EDIT: Also, I agree I don't think they lost the license for good. As far as I know, they're still planning on the new Spider-Man game sometime this year. Probably in the summer or fall.

Will we ever get a Daredevil game? =/ Didn't they get the rights to make a DD game or was that just some character rights renew for MUA?

Well, there goes me getting all of the achievements in this game. Microsoft should take them off then.

its so ironic that the one games DLC pack that I actually cared about is the one that is prematurely removed with no warning for no reason, to add to the irony, i was lookin forward to the DLC then it just fell completely out of my mind until around when its taken down...I dont know why they even wasted their time with this DLC

Who knows. When Capcom lost the Marvel liscense, they had to stop producing Marvel VS Capcom 2. Thats why that game went into limited supply so soon after it was released.

Another thing is, this could affect exclusives. Most companies now are going the route of DLC exclusives.

There are two things Activision could do:

1. Put exclusives on the disc instead of downloading. This means that whatever 360 / PS3 / Wii gets the others will never get.
2. Stop exclusives all together.

They'll probably go with #1.

Is that true? I could've sworn that I played co-op with people who didnt get the DLC. In fact I remember him commenting on Juggernaut as if he hadnt seen him before.

They had a patch update so that you could play with people that had the dlc even if you didn't.

But along with the dlc, Activision took the patch down also. So yea, no more playing with those without the dlc.

They've been doing that for years now, since XML2

If Gold Edition does happen, it may be for VIPs on M:UA 2's forum, but we finally have more information.

Kalina on the M:UA 2 forum said:
First on DLC. All I can say is the decision to take it down was out of our hands. Not the choice I would have made, but my influence only goes so far, and believe me I tried… However, since we knew this MIGHT happen, we tried to make it really clear in initial press releases on DLC that this was a limited time offer. See these links below. I thought that same message would have been clear to the VIP community - our bad if you felt like it got pulled without warning. I was on vacation at the time otherwise I would have warned you. :-( I actually assumed this would be covered while I was gone.
Some of the initial news on DLC are at the links below, and the “limited time” 12/31/09 date was communicated in these. If we were successful appealing to keep the DLC up longer, there would have been a new press release to communicate the extended term. We appealed, we got denied. we even appealed again pointing to all the consumer complaints, and got denied again. So that was that.

So, we have to move on. We are trying to figure out ways to bring the content back - maybe in a limited edition for VIPs? - but there are a lot of things in play so while we are trying our best, there are no guarantees. I will say this - we hear you, I prefer that the DLC content be available too, and we are trying to find a way. Stay tuned! If I get any good news on this, I will share in this thread!

Not surprising it was out of their hands. They told us they were going to pull the DLC, they did. It sucks, we should of read the press release more carefully.

I just finished the game for the first time. It took me awhile because I got crazy bored with the game. The last boss fight was LAME. I just wailed on him with Luke Cage for like 5 minutes and that was that. I didn't even need to use a fusion.

how would they even do that? Send out codes to VIP members? I think she's trying to give people hope but I dont think there is any. This is bigger than VV or Activision and I cant see them getting a limited liscense for only a smaller select group of players. If she's talking about gold edition as in another retail copy, then as much as I want to play as the characters, Im not going to rebuy the entire game when I have the original just for them. Oh well

If the DLC was for a limited time only then that should've been stated on the PSN and XBL when you go to download it. We shouldn't have to be made to vist herohq to find this information out, especially if they knew they might have to pull the content and in doing so would break the online play.

That press release was pretty much posted on every major news site, so someone should have caught it here.

But oh well, it was a pretty crappy dlc set anyways. The game itself is pretty bleh, I'm glad I didn't end up buying it.

I bought the DLC when it came out for EU, played it briefly, and the game hasn't been in my PS3 since.

Same here.

I can't believe you guys are still talking about this?

I can't believe I havn't traded it in yet.

People talk because this has never happened before with Activision. Activision made a lot of promises and never kept them

I was going to trade in my MUA1 Gold Edition on Amazon last week and was kicking myself for not doing it when it was $14 since it's now $8.

I'm going to hold onto it now.

I think I still have the Juggernaut code from when I pre-ordered MUA2. I wonder if that will still work.

No.

You can only download the DLC if you've already paid for it, but codes won't work because they're no longer available to be downloaded otherwise.

Didn't think so. Not that it matters since I still have no desire to play this.
