"We don't want to retread Shepard's story because it is the players story, so that is why we are going to set it after the original trilogy, where the universe could be in four different states depending on the player choice at the end." I am sure that will create no complications whatsoever or conflict with some fan's headcanon.

I actually think not using Shepard makes sense but I also think it would have been better then set before rather than after.

Unfortunately par for the course with these shows. It's why Fallout S2 being in New Vegas is so nonsensical to me. Because trying to write New Vegas after The Courier's stay there and somehow still have the NCR and Caesar's Legion in it completely undermines the events of FNV. There is literally no version of the Courier's story as far as I recall (whether they're independent, side with the NCR, House or Caesar's Legion) where all of the factions still exist. And yet, here we are, with the equal stupidity of somehow trying to write immediate future after ME3.

Me personally I don't see why they can't just do a parody of Cheers set in a bar on the Citadel pre ME1 and just run with that story concept.
