Video games are somehow responsible because everyone knows there were never mass school shootings before video games existed. Nope, not a one*.

Yeah, the literally hundreds of millions of people who play video games every year and are totally not out there re-creating video game scenarios with violence (and no one ever says anything else despite the diverse amount of game types to play without violence influencing people) pretty much puts all the nails in that coffin.

Video games are not responsible in any way, shape or form for this kid.

This nonsense pisses me off. I have played every type of game there is for close to 35 years. I have never once gone out and committed a crime. And neither have any of the dozens of people I have known who also played video games.

Might as well said the kid eats bread and the gluten in the bread made him violent.

So, update on the MI school shooter. I just found out that while his parents are hiring an expensive lawyer for themselves, the kid is getting a public defender.

The more I see, the more uncomfortable I am with charging him as an adult.

What he did was monstrous, but he's 15. No way he should be charged as an adult imo. Also these parents weren't just negligent. They feel like they were actively responsible here.

The more I hear about this family the more I believe the blame lies with the parents. Yes the boy is old enough to know his actions were wrong, and it was his choice, but responsible or loving parents could have intervened and gotten him help or insured he could not commit mass murder.

Crumbley's parents failed him. The Crumbleys seem self involved and neglectful. They ignored the signs of their son's clearly deteriorating mental state and seemed to just pacify him with gifts like a gun.

I really don't think this kid can be rehabilitated. Him torturing and killing animals and his plans to torture and rape a classmate indicates if he hadn't become a mass shooter he most assuredly would have become a serial killer.

Or he's sick. And needs to be treated like he is sick.

There is a reason why we have different sentencing for minors and adults.
