Mass Violence in America: the All Inclusive Thread

Um, this looks like cops confronted a dude and he started returning fire. I don't know this situation fits under the type of mass shooting most of us think of.
It was trending on the news like it was. It's a huge story but if if warrants its own thread I don't know.

If it's drug/gang related this won't stay in the media long.

I’m surprised this guy surrendered.

My ex lives like around the block and was giving me a play by play earlier.

He shot 6 cops who all were wearing vests and no one was seriously injured. It skirts the line of "mass shooting" in that way but fortunately no one died and no one was grievously harmed. Even the shooter got out unharmed.

They really think they're gonna get far in a government vehicle that everybody will be looking for?

5 dead and 21 injured

Suicide by cop. :( Too bad he chose to take the innocent along with him.

Republicans: "Our thoughts and prayers are with Odessa."
Translation: "We just need to wait out the news cycle and everyone will forget about it till the next one."

Oh, and a 17 month old baby was shot in the face too. Too bad there was no good guy with...oh 3 officers were shot?

I got into a debate with some people on another forum I frequent that is not moderated as well as this one and every argument was "what about Chicago?"

It didn't use to be, it's about video games. Suddenly they're everywhere.

Yeah, that no one was able to shoot someone in a moving vehicle from their moving vehicle is definite proof that open and concealed carry laws don't work.

And Texas just loosened their gun laws. They see guns are a problem and thought it was a great idea to make them even easier to bring into more places. To solve shootings, you need more people who can shoot other people.

Doesn't matter what they do. La Pierre is going to shut it down.

I've been out of the loop and not sure what's up with Chicago recently. Confused as to what they are saying that makes it racist.
They're using the shootings in Chicago to justify the ones around the country

Chicago has a lot of black people (and just people in general) and a lot of guns so when someone is shot there it's somehow justification for how other places (with less black people) have gun violence too and that it means regulating guns is pointless.

Chicago isn't supposed to have a gun problem because gun regulations are stronger there but when you can go next door to another state with much more lax gun laws and get it there it doesn't do much good.

The logic is baffling and a distraction though.

I'm at a loss for words that "Mass Shootings in America" now has it's own thread to umbrella them all together.. that alone should tell you there's a massive problem.

This isnt accuate at all. You can't buy a handgun out of state anywhere unless you're military stationed in that state.
