Mass Violence in America: the All Inclusive Thread

There is video of the cops and parents. Not recommended you find them, because you hear the shooter's gun.

Yeah, the shooter did not have body armor. American cops are unique in that they have enough money to do whatever they want, but are also too cowardly to do their jobs when it matters.

Source that he wasn't wearing body armor? Newsweek and basically everywhere else reports that he was.

Regardless of whether he did or didn't have a vest on, I agree with the consensus that the initial police response was cowardly as **** based on what's been reported at this time.

So we shouldn't have been angry at Scot Peterson for abandoning his duty in Parkland. Just because SCOTUS says that law enforcement officers are under no obligation to actually help the public does not mean we should not expect cops to put their lives on the line to protect others, most particularly the most innocent and defenseless.

.....what?

.....what?

Warren v. District of Columbia - Wikipedia

And this town of 13000 had a SWAT team. And yet, it was still a CPB team that went into the school to do their damn jobs.

I have yet to find a good, verified source on the body armor thing, however, given the police response and the clear attempt to cover their asses, lets just say I have doubts on info coming from the police.

An article was brought to my attention which offered a “simple solution” to mass murder and gun violence. And it’s based on the premise that 99+% of mass murderers are male. Now, clearly, this is tongue-in-cheek. But it’s also, IMO, a brilliant piece of rhetoric.

“How about we treat every young man who wants to buy a gun like every woman who wants to get an abortion—mandatory 48-hour waiting period, parental permission, a note from a doctor proving he understands what he’s about to do, a video he has to watch about the effects of gun violence… Let’s close down all but one gun shop in every state and make him travel hundreds of miles, take time off work, and stay overnight in a strange town to get a gun. Make him walk through a gauntlet of people holding photos of loved ones who were shot to death, people who call him a murderer and beg him not to buy a gun.”

Works for me!

I'm watching CNN.....and the fact that the police haven't even given a timeline of their response tells me that they ****ed up the response and are trying to come up with a way to lie about it.

They also showed a reporter asking a congressman (from Texas but can't remember his name)....she asked him, since 18 year olds in Texas can't buy a beer shouldn't there also be a law that they can't buy an assault weapon. He sidestepped the question and gave one of the standard Repub responses of "but this happened".....the reporter, in the studio, then says "As you see he sidestepped the question." What pisses me off is this....if you ask a question, and the congressman starts sidestepping it to answer something else...STOP HIM FROM CONTINUING TALKING. Interrupt him, tell him he is not answering the question and badger him until he either does anser it or he runs off with his tail between his legs. Do not let him get out his bull**** deflection mantra. Have them answer the question or they get no air time with their bull****.

Yeah, there is some high grade ass covering going on.

I absolutely believe the reports that the shooter didn't have actual body armor, now.

CNN says the Uvalde police will give an update shortly it showed them setting up the microphones outside)....hopefully we get a real update.

They're saying the press conference has been pushed back to 2:30.

Just a military occupation of our schools.

The press conference is over.....they did not answer all the questions.

They did say -
contrary to earlier stories, NO ONE engaged the shooter from the truck to the school

police entered the building, were shot at, and backed off.

to several questions they responded - we're still looking at it.

They also said the door the shooter used to enter the school was unlocked. I thought doors were supposed to be locked at all times, someone has to buzz you in to enter.

Just saw on Inside Edition that said he bought body armor when he bought the AR-15s.

Not at my school. We had 5 sets of doors all unlocked.

The body armor excuse is just the cops trying to deflect responsibility.

The fact is body armor doesn't stop kinetic force. It doesn't matter if an 18 year old skinny kid is wearing body armor. A .40 caliber pistol bullet or a 12 gauge slug hitting body armor would have dropped the kid. It would have at the very least cracked a rib or bruised an organ. No 18 year old is going to stay on his feet after that. I dont care how armored he is.

There's no need for civilians to have body armor......or assault rifles.......or automatic weapons.....

Of course there's no need for Ted Cruz and any other number of politicians that we have......

Civilians don't have automatic weapons. They only have semi auto and double action and single action. Semi auto and double just means you dont have to manually load a bullet between each trigger pull. Single action requires the shooter to manually engage the action, hammer or pump or bolt, between each shot. Semi auto has been available to civilians for 100 years.

The only way a civilian can get an automatic weapon is with a special tax form, a specific reason for needing the weapon such as educational or instructional reasons, and personal approval from the local sheriff. Even then they cant sell or give the weapon to anyone else and its their ass if they're ever caught misusing the weapon. There is also a much stricter criminal and medical background check involved. Its honestly a hassle and usually takes months to get it approved for a single gun, and then it takes even longer to find one to buy. And the manufacturers are another roadblock. For example, Glock makes one automatic pistol, Model 18, and they only loan them to civilians for educational purposes and they keep close watch of what the person does with it. When the person is done with the gun they have to send it back to Glock. Trust me no mass shooter is getting their hands on an automatic weapon through any legal means. There's just too much red tape involved and it takes too long.

Yeah......I know the differences and grew up around guns. I also know people can convert weapons and some civilians "do" have automatic guns. I was trying to make a point about what civilians should have.

Converting guns to full auto is already illegal.
