Age has nothing to do with it. This guy didn't shoot up a school because he was 18. He did it because he was mentally unstable. Address mental health and domestic insurrection, propaganda, and online radicalism.

Raising the age limit for rifles to 24 or even 21 would only punish law abiding American adults and hunters of all ages.

Case in point. This Fing ******** bought a rifle just after he turned 18 and was able to because he didn't have an "adult" criminal record. 2 days before, he was considered a juvenile. I mean, really......that makes sense. We have tiers of age for different things. Drinking, for example and running for various offices, but if an 18 year old wants a gun, that's not a problem......

Yeah. This has been pretty clear for quite some time. The trick is the definition of mental illness. To most people, anyone who can go out and slaughter people is "mentally ill", so people like Abbott can go out and make misleading statements without any factual knowledge about the perpetrator. They use words like "psychopath" without any clinical foundation and it sounds right to people.

The overall problem we have with gun violence, IMO, is a problem of socialization rather than one of mental health. I'm not downplaying the importance of mental health, but, rather, saying we shouldn't go around using it as a catch all to push a politically expedient agenda.
