Fantasy Masters of the Universe - Part 3

I am really intriged as to what kind of design they will go for He-Man, Sci-fi like the CGI show or more simple/barbaric? Or something in between maybe?

I wouldn't want to be in these guys' shoes. He-Man is such a tricky property to adapt. It comes from so many different visuals and designs and ideas and tones.
From what they've said, my guess is they are going with a Guardians of the Galaxy tone but with its own distinctive style that looks into the past rather than the future. I really hope they go crazy adapting all those beautifully bizarre characters.

Gotg is a good guess in terms of tone, although the directors already cited Thor Ragnarok as reference for what they are trying to achieve with the Motu film.

So this guy Kyle Allen is playing He-Man. Anyone know if he is a good actor? He looks like a clone of Heath Ledger to me, which is fine I guess. Not really getting a He-Man vibe from him in any photos I’ve seen but maybe if he puts on a lot of muscle.

Also, I think my favorite quote from that interview is:

“Yeah, we are [doing the film] and we plan on it being good.”

Well, that’s good to know. My fears have certainly abated. Rejoice.

Ah! Interesting, I didn't know that. Thor Ragnarok is a good comparison, yes. I can totally see that now.

I think the real test will be who they cast as Skeletor. Of course, I want a He-Man movie to be ABOUT He-Man this time but Skeletor should obviously be a scene stealer. If they don’t cast a good actor in that role then this project is doomed.

That said, The Lost City got mostly good reviews so maybe these guys do have some talent.

You get an Oscar winner for Skeletor.

Skeletor is the one who will make or break the movie. Any kid can do He-Man really.

If this movie is set on Earth again (like rumors suggests) this will kill the movie & nothing will save it

Google search this IGN article's headline

Masters Of the Universe Live-Action Movie Heads To Netflix While Casting Its He-Man

The new film's story will focus on He-Man, also known as Adam, an orphan "discovers he is a prince destined to be the savior of a faraway land." He must "quickly learn of his power and the importance of saving his true home from an evil force."

Ugh yeah that does sound like Adam is going to be some d-bag living on Earth who suddenly finds out he’s Luke Skywalker and needs to travel to Eternia. I hope not but that plot summary has me concerned. Is it really SO hard to resist the temptation to bring cartoon characters to earth when their shows never involved earth? Masters of the Universe. Sonic. The Smurfs. It’s never a good idea and yet they keep doing it.

We shall see. Who knows where IGN got that information. There have been so many scripts that information could be inaccurate or out of date.

Admitedly, I havent seen The Lost City yet, but the fact is being well received gives anyone hope that this could turn out good?

The thing that exites me the most is the diector using Thor Ragnarok as reference in terms of approach, I hope they pull it off.

The Lost City was decent, but it was hardly a masterpiece. It was a fairly conventional rom-com that I think was elevated by Sandra Bullock and Bullock and Tatum having pretty good chemistry.

Masters of the Universe is a different beast.

Netflix Masters of the Universe Movie Fans

Filming for the new live action Masters of the Universe film is scheduled to begin in April 2023 in Vancouver, Canada and Prague (capital city of the Czech Republic).

The role of He-Man will be played by Kyle Allen ("West Side Story"), who said this in a recent interview:

"It's spectacular. We're going to start filming in April. So it's been a matter of kind of waiting and preparing and getting the story and everything in perfect order, and I'm looking forward to it."

When asked what training he would go through to prepare for this movie, Kyle said "I will be hitting it pretty hard pretty soon. I do about six hours of training a day, and I eat about 4,000 calories. I'm shoving food in my face until midnight. And then I get up and do a bunch of weight training and parkour and martial arts."

Good news, thanks for the video.

All I need is for Mer-Man to be in this film and I will be a happy man.
