Fantasy Masters of the Universe - Part 3

For what it's worth, I thought PR was surprisingly well-directed. Although its box office certainly doesn't help his chances.

I like the idea of Steven S. DeKnight myself.

How about Colin Trevorrow for director? Not likely to happen I know but I thought I'd throw his name out there.

They're either gonna get some major A-list talent to direct or some nobody who they can just use as a journeyman.

Either way, unless things change, with Tom Rothman running Sony this won't be good..

BTW, I pick Francis Lawrence. He's such a unique director who is a bit of journeyman but has a great visual style and direction that makes him better than non-journeymen.

I trust him more than the likes of Len Wiseman, Collin Trevorrow (Don't hate him though Collin gives me vibes that he thinks he more talented than actually is ), Dean Israelite, Neil Bloomkamp, and the list goes on.

Agreed, Lawrence has had a pretty promising upswing since I Am Legend. Even Constantine holds up pretty well for a debut.

This is gonna be an unpopular name but Zack Snyder. I don't think he's the greatest director in the world. But he has an eye and vision this project needs, he'd make Eternia look amazing.

Amazingly grey and muted. I like a lot of Zack's work but he's been allergic to color recently.

It wouldn't just be Eternia that lacks colour. All the colourful MOTU characters would all look desaturated.

They should get Bryan Singer from early 2000s so that all the characters would be in black leather. :o

I think Zack would take a different approach to MOTU. I actually think he'd make it cartoonish in the best way possible. As a reflection of medium it originated from.

I am a big Zach Snyder fan but his take will probably be very similar to 300, me thinks. And I don't know if that's the direction I want MotU to take.

How about Andrew Adamson?

Adamson would make a nice safe pick, the Narnia movies made some smart choices that improved on the source material (of course a lot of credit also goes to Markus & McFeely on script duties. Damn those guys are crushing it at Marvel :cap:).

How about Scott Buck for MOTU? :o

I had no idea he directed The Lost World.

:loco::hehe::pal::funny::lmao:

Never thought I'd laugh so hard at anyone championing a shallow, superficial piece of garbage like Lost World, a film made when Spielberg had clearly lost touch with the inner teenager that gave us Jaws, Raiders and of course the first Jurassic Park. And in the years since then Spielberg has not made one genuinely good action film.

Well best of luck to MOTU in finding the right creative team.

So they don't want Skeletor as the villain? Instead he'd be a Thanos character? Seriously. That's not how this works. Who would even then be the villain at all? Who would be the villain in the first movie if not Skeletor?

It's pretty simple. Skeletor is Loki. Hordak is Thanos. Or King Hsss is Thanos. It's that simple.

Also, just to add fuel to the fire. Sony's license for He-Man expires in 2019. So that's why they are trying to get this made now after twiddling their thumbs for years on it.

I've seen very little come out of this project recently to give me confidence that Sony will nail it.

Why do movie studios keep pulling this kind of crap with these properties? They tried it with the first Transformers, they tried it with GI Joe, and now they're going to do it with this? F***ing terrible. I want to see He-Man facing off against Skeletor, the same way I wanted Optimus and Megatron and Duke and Cobra Commander. We did get Megs as more of the main villain in the other TF movies, but they sucked so bad I didn't care anymore. Same with GI Joe. Please, Sony, don't make the same mistake with He-Man.

Though I know you will. Asking Sony not to do something stupid is sort of like asking Trump to not make an ass out of himself in front of other world leaders or commit an impeachable offense.

The Thanos analogy makes no sense. I don't even think you can afford to wait until the first sequel. He-Man needs Skeletor to sell this movie. Then, you can scale his role back a bit and use him in a similar fashion to Loki or Barbossa
