Fantasy Masters of the Universe - Part 3

Speaking of Ram Man, did any of you play Baldur’s Gate 3? I swear, all the armored dwarves look like Ram Man. I can’t tell if that was intentional or not.

This is going to be a 'hard-sell' to anyone who isn't a Gen-Xer, is it not.

There is zero reference point for any age-group for less than my generation, brought up on the classic animated series and toy range.

Yes, I see this as a very tough sell. He-Man/MOTU never really had generational success, unlike Transformers, TMNT, or Sonic the Hedgehog.

Grand irony that this is where She-ra has an advantage over He-man.

I'm not going to knock that until we know more. I think people are prematurely rushing to judgment over the premise. If that's the whole movie, yeah I will be annoyed. I'm more annoyed by Goat Man over Beast Man.

I mean, I hope it’s good. But I have to admit I’m at least a little annoyed that somehow both times we’ve gotten He-Man in live action, it’s resulted in him getting transported to Earth. Maybe that happened in the cartoons somewhere but I remember the bulk of the story taking place in Eternia.

It doesn't happen in the cartoons. But we do find out that Queen Marlena is originally an astronaut from planet Earth who crash-landed on Eternia.

Honestly, I have to agree. Why is it such a problem just to keep it on Eternia? Is it a budget thing? The D&D movie proved it can be done! Eternia doesn’t have to look like Pandora or something like that!

Its odd that no one has ever thought about making a dark fantasy Masters Of The Universe video game in the style of a Shadow Of Mordor or The Witcher 3. Eternia as an open world sandbox.
Actually I could see a He-Man game with the Nemesis System. Would make more sense than for Wonder Woman.

D&D wasn't successful.

Definitely budget and higher ups thinking that audiences probably wouldnt be able to connect to a He-Man who doesnt start as "one of us"

Hack reasoning. Then again this is Mattel, and given what they did to Thomas the Tank Engine recently……..*shudder*

For now, I'm willing to trust in Travis Knight and Chris Butler that they know what they are doing. They are good storytellers and have done some genuinely great work. Travis Knight directed the only live-action Transformers movie that got overall good reviews from critics.

None of the people who were on MOTU inspired me until Travis Knight got the gig. Beforehand it was the likes of McG, John Stevenson, David Goyer, Jeff Wadlow, and the Nee brothers.

One other thing to add, the Sonic films are primarily set on Earth, and fans are loving them right now. And frankly, it annoys me that the films are mostly stuck on Earth and we don't get to see many semblances of the great levels and stages from the games, besides the hidden temples in Sonic 2. I've wanted the Sonic films to move off-world, but they don't seem to be going in that direction anytime soon.

Sonic being lovestruck with a podunk middle-of-nowhere town like Green Hill still seems odd to me. Why can't we get more activity on other planets or learn about Mobius? Where did Tails and Knuckles actually come from?

I’m not convinced this movie will actually be good but I have to say hot damn that is a good looking sword.
