Matthew Goode appreciation thread!!

Somebody tell this fool to cash his check and shut his face! You think this guy really cares what we think? Its all publicity to promote the movie. He's got his payday so cash your check and move on. No need to exploit fans any more than u already have.

I don't think people are getting Matthew Goode's humor
it doesn't really translate too much in print.

He swears alot anyway its like he has tourettes :funny:
I saw him in a tv interview where he talked about how he swears too much

I really liked the clips with his character, I though he was very good in that uncensored clip, so arrogant and slob.

But, to say the truth, I tend to love subtle (the so called wooden) actors. :cwink:

Matthew is great in his action scenes> His ozy role is a bit under developed but this movie might be the flick to get him noticed for some action roles

I agree... His fight scenes were awesome (although it probably wasn't Goode during most of them), but his mumbling and crappy accent bugged the hell out of me. He was, in my opinion, the worst-acted Watchman in the movie.

Considering that he was duking it out with wilson and jjeh in the last fight , i do think that he did most of his shots. Heck if snyder put the entire acting crew of of 300 thru a rigprous training program , then i do think that matthew sufferef the same hardcore training.

There's no way of telling it was actually him unless we've watched him film it. His face easily could have been tacked on, and there were countless clips where I watched and saw that it was Ozy was far enough away or had his face hidden enough to see that it probably was not Goode.

On top of that, this movie isn't 300. In 300, it was 300 naked men who were signed on for an action movie... I wouldn't consider Watchmen in the same way. Much more plot and less fighting-oriented. On top of that, 300 could have been tough as they'd have to double people who looked almost very similar in height, skin tone, etc.

Chances are very high that it was not Goode in most of those shots.

I thought Goode did a great job in the film. He may not have looked exactly like Veidt in the comics, but his acting was spot-on. I think that they did make him come off a little too sinister at the beginning, but perhaps it just came off that way to me because I knew (from reading the book) that he was behind everything. If I had gone into this knowing nothing about the story, I might not have picked up on it at all, considering that this movie features several other characters who have "relaxed" morals.

Yeah, from reading from the comics, I got the idea that Veidt was more of the humble type of hero, but he came off as mean and aggressive the entire movie.

I just wish I could understand Goode more toward the beginning of the movie. He kept mumbling throughout his lines, and it took a bit for me to figure out what he was saying in a lot of cases.

He was incredible at the end, though.

Only problem my gf and I had was that he looked too young in the face.

Other than that I thought he acted the part pretty well. Only negative thing I found about him all came down to his face, he just didn't look like the type of guy who is in his mid/late thirties who has the experience of traveling the world and going through a number of experiences.

I really hope in the Director's Cut Snyder had filmed more of his scene with the Coporate leaders when he tells them about his background. I reall liked that in the book where he goes into detail about where he's been and him being inspired by Alexander The Great and then Ramses II. If that was explained more in the film(I would have been happy with him just telling them as opposed to filming scenes where it actually shows you even)you could take him a bit more seriously as someone who has incredible knowledge and experience of the world and humanity.

actually, present day veidt is suppose to be in his 50's, ha ha ha.

Whoops, forgot about the dates and time change lol.

That makes it even worse that Goode looks younger than me and I'm 27.

Once again though, I do like his actual performance it's just more to blame on Snyder for picking someone who looked waaay too young for the role.

I think that may have been intentional; since Veidt is brilliant, rich beyond belief and has done genetic experimentation (which wasn't brought up in the movie, but still) I assumed he found some way to slow his aging.

MATTHEW GOODE plays Andrew Veidt/Ozymandias in the movie, expected to be one of the biggest hits of 2009.

But the 30-year-old actor – who has previously appeared in Match Point and Brideshead Revisited – went on the offensive after learning hardcore fans are saying he doesn’t suit the character before even watching the film.

He said: “The negative feedback is relayed by my friends. I think the fanboys aren’t particularly happy – there are a load of people they’d have rather had in before me.

“It’s already being slated before they’ve seen anything.

“But if fanboys still hate the film after going and seeing it, they can all line up and s*** my d***.

“I don’t give a f***.”

Matthew added: “I’m having a child and that’s more important to me – so I don’t give a f***.

“Grow a d***.”
Haha! Good man!

Still, he was the wrong choice for Ozy. :cwink:

It was definitely intentional. Veidt is the representation of a perfect man. Even in his 50s, you can't expect him to look like a normal old-aged guy. I would fully expect him to look relatively youthful, given that he's trained himself to peak condition and has to maintain a good public image.

It's not that far-fetched. Look at guys like Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, and even Prince. These guys are well into their 40s, and don't look older than early 30s.
