Max Payne is hardly a hard M rated game that's why over here in the UK its a 15 rated game.

I don't get all this pointless *****ing and whining about the movie being PG-13.

Yes, the game had some pretty dark moments in it, but the movie seems to be living up to that quite nicely. Besides, there was never any gore or severed heads or explicit sex scenes in the game. Hell, now that I think of it, even the language wasn't that graphic.

Seriously, name me one image or moment from the game that couldn't be pulled off in a PG-13 movie.

Saw these at my theater. Heard people near me say "Wasn't that a video game?"

What exactly are those vultures? i dont remember them in the game.

They are called Valkryies (Norse Mythology winged beast things) which are actually hallucinations caused by the drug thus why the name of the drug, Valkyr (same name in the game too). Hope that clears it up.

In the game there are brief references to Norse Mythology:
Max Payne takes place at night during aseemingly endless snowstorm, and contains many references to Ragnarok, the Norse end of the world, during which the world is swallowed by snow and darkness. One of the levels takes place in a night club called Ragna Rock. While inside of Ragna Rock, Max comes across a book entitled The Age of Murder and Storm, which mentions "Norse mythos and Ragnarok". Max himself wears a Sun crossOdin, known for his prowess in battle. pendant, the symbol of the chief Norse god
Many of the characters and objects in the game are named after Norse gods; the drug that forms the basis of the plot is called Valkyr, after the goddesses who brings slain heroes to Valhalla, a name given to another location in the game.

The valkyries are being featured very heavily in the advertising. I almost fear that they're going to be real and not a drug effect.

The second game had tons of swearing in it. It also had a sex scene, though it wasn't explicit.

Like I said, the violence in Max Payne has never been over the top bloody or anything; it's pretty tame, so the PG-13 rating won't hurt the violence too much. I just know we'll probably get a lot of "guy gets shot, cut to blood spraying on wall" type of shots that are lame as hell.

I just hope they don't overdo the valkryie thing. When I think of Max Payne, I don't think of flying valkyries...

Well as you know they're hallucinations by those who are on the Valkyr drug.

But I do agree that I hope they don't overdo it and actually leave some of the effects to your imagination. Maybe have one or two moments where the victim sees the Valkyries.

I played Max Payne at 7 or 8 years old, lol. Ever since then, I've been wanting it to be made into a film. Anyway, the film doesn't look dissapointing.

Well from what we have seen it's clearly more than a simple hallucinations. They very well may be hallucinations, but they should have shown it from the vitims POV.

When they pull out and show them in the scene they're only hurting their excuse for having them in the movie.

International Max Payne Trailer Hits
Source: Yahoo! Movies UK
September 2, 2008

The full international trailer for 20th Century Fox's Max Payne is now online. Opening on October 17 in North America, the John Moore-directed action-thriller stars Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, Beau Bridges, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges and Olga Kurylenko.

In the video game adaptation, maverick cop Max Payne (Wahlberg) is hell-bent on revenge against those responsible for the brutal murder of his family and partner. His obsessive investigation takes him on a nightmarish journey into a dark underworld. As the mystery deepens, Max is forced to battle enemies beyond the natural world and face an unthinkable betrayal.

Wow, i didn't know Olga was in this.

This is definately on my to see list.

Man, that trailer made the Valkryie crap look even worse. I thought when that guy gets pulled out the window he was shot by Max Payne or something, but he literally gets pulled out the window by a Valkyrie.

....WTF?? I mean, the tone and action still looks bad ass, but it really looks like they are overplaying the Valkryie stuff huge. Mila Kunis even says "What did we just see?"

Dumb.

Someone isn't familiar with the hallucination part of the storyline. More than likely Max was tripping off the Valkyr drug when he shot the guy and he was seeing the Valkyrie in the process.

I don't recall Mona specifically implying she saw a Valkyrie. "What did we just see?" was most likely referring to why the crackhead she and Max cornered just tossed himself out the window.

Actually, I'm more than familiar with those elements of the storyline, thanks. Max definitely does not shoot that guy; he's running to stop the guy from falling out the window.

I suppose Mina Kunis could've been saying "What did we just see" in regards to watching a crackhead flip out and throw himself off a rooftop, but the way it's cut in the trailer definitely suggests otherwise. I really hope that's the case though and it's just misleading marketing on Fox's part.

As much as I like Mina Kunis, she DOES stand out like a sore thumb in the trailer.

I think in the script that was exactly the case... I think I remember that she might also say it 'cause the guy was "fighting" his allucinations...
