360 sales have been hurting ever since the (incredibly stupid) introduction of the Elite SKU and have declined again month over month, showing that following the Sony strategy isn't a good one (obviously!). It looks like PS3 sales have finally stabilized coming off 77k sold the prior month. Nintendo had the pleasure of having the Wii outsell the PS3 and 360 COMBINED. PS2 and PSP had healthy showings, and the DS Murdered everyone else on the market.

I dont at all get your logic. How in the hell does the release of that system piss you off? You have a 360 so why would you need another one? I think its just another choice for consumers. It doesn't short change anybody. I own a premium and have NO desire to own an Elite(although when it first released i wanted it, but that was only because it was the new item). Why would I? I have a 360, i don't need another one.

Considering the much bigger HD and the HDMI cables that were conveniently excluded from the first iteration, I would consider that one hell of a short-change. Basically everyone who bought the premium but wanted a larger HD or HDMI just got spat on. We had to pay $100 for a f-ing 20 GB HD, and then the 'Elite' adopters get a 120GB HD and HDMI cables for $70-80 more? What. The. Hell.

Not to mention that no one really needs a 120 gig hard drive for a game console, you still have to buy the 360 HD-DVD add on to get real value out of that HDMI port, and it's missing one thing that would actually justify the price, namely a built in HD-DVD drive. Had they done somethign crazy like that, they would have polarized the eleite from the perception of being the model every owner should be owning, and instead hammered home taht it's a top tier only product not meant for the mass market, whilst simultaneously potentially ending or stalemating the Blu Ray HD-DVD war in America and abroad.

But they decided to be greedy instead... I guess the margins they make off the elite are really good but it's costing them units sold. 154k is (brace for it) Nearing PS3 territory.

Unlikely. While it may see a small bump, most people who want Halo 3, have probably had their 360 for awhile now.

IA with that statement. I think most Halo fans already have a 360, especially before the beta came out

I don't think either Halo or GTA will have the instant success of their predecessors just because the price of both consoles is prohibitive to the average person and their won't be the userbase to generate those kinds of sales.

The PS2 was like only 50 dollars more expensive then a wii and had a huge userbase when GTA III hit.

Possibly. Though, considering the sales of it's predecessor, I wouldn't be surprised if it moved at least 100-200k and upwards consoles. Mainly because I doubt that 70-80% of the Xbox 360's install base is waiting for Halo 3, and I expect it to perform just as well as Halo 2 in terms of sales. [around 9, 10 million]

Well if the pre-orders from Halo 3 have any indication, then that statement couldnt be more wrong. Hell, almost a million ppl played the Beta. Im not a Halo fan, but i understand that that game could easily be the biggest game that has ever released on any console.
