Maze Runner: Scorch Trials

So I just saw this last Saturday and like the first movie, it was alright, interesting premise but the ending, not so great. I think the first half is better, like it was quite action packed, the action sequences were intense, the cinematography was good.
the zombies were a pleasant surprise to me.
However towards the half of the film, when more new characters started to show up, it wasn't just as good and the climax was kinda meh. I also don't like the villains, they kinda annoyed me. The new ally, Brenda, I thought the actress was not good.

Then the sequel, I wish they will release Maze Runner: The Death Cure next year of September instead of February 2017.

Loved the first film. Will be seeing this asap.

Yeah, it's disappointing/surprising that the reviews are like this. But, I haven't read the books, so maybe it's indicative of the source material.

Ive read some pretty good reviews. What Im reading is about what I expected so Im still going to watch it.

I still thought this was good, but not as original as the first. I do like
that there is actually a zombie cure, and the way to obtain it was new.
but the rest felt like I'd seen it in various films before. As a whole, still really liked it, probably a 6.5/10 for me.

I'm probably still gonna check this out. I enjoyed the first one well enough.

It definitely wasn't as good as the first. The first's mystery plot, Maze and characters were more compelling. This is just a straight sci fi horror post apocalyptic action film. I did like the film though. Alan Ball is proving to be a pretty strong director even though he hasn't had the greatest material to work with. Somebody give this man a bigger and better blockbuster because the action scenes were really well done. I think the acting is solid but I still don't think that this is the star making performance that Dylan O'Brien fans seem to claim. He's fine but I felt the Ki Hong Lee and Rosa Salazar were the best as far as the young cast goes.

Anyway I gave the first a 7.5, Scorch Trials would be lower than that, I haven't decided how much lower.

I really enjoyed this. Liked it just as much as the first. Maybe even a bit more. (No I've not read any of the books)

DIdnt like this as much as I liked the first, but I still thought this was really good.

Performances were great and I loved the mystery of it all. I really had no idea where the film was going and I dug that. I can't say that I felt that way about many films.

The action sequences were great. None of them topped the brief maze collapsing scene from the first movie, but still. Just give Wes Ball the Last of Us adaptation because he directed the best zombie action scenes Ive seen in a long long time. They were tense, they were exciting, they were good.

The downside is that I felt the film had pacing issues and that's my main problem. I was kind bored during a lot of the scenes.

But still it was good. I'll be picking this up when it comes on Blu Ray. This is a very cool "smaller" franchise. I'll be sad to see it go after the final film.

7.5/10

I liked this. Not as good as the first movie but there was enough entertaining stuff in the film for it to be enjoyable.

The movie was sort of one long chase like Mad Max Fury Road.

I remember hearing there was a psychic element in the books which I'm glad they left out of the movie as it wasn't necessary.

It is cool to see a unstereotypical Asian guy in the character of Minho.

Alan Tudyk's character and that whole sequence was weak. It felt like a cliffhanger scene from the books that wasn't necessary.

I'm glad that this is a YA dystopian series that doesn't revolve around a love triangle or romance in general. The stakes feel real and the characters don't come across as self involved because they are worried about surviving rather than just being with their girlfriend/boyfriend.

This movie wasn't too bad. It was like a solid 6.5 or 7. I had a pretty good time watching it.

Apparently he was run over by a vehicle. Ouch. But he should be back in action in a few weeks.
