So basically characters that appeared in Black widow / TFAWS + Ghost & Abomination? Eh.

yeah I'm surprised that its a movie.

But then again, I'd rather sit through a 2 hour movie than watch a D+ original for siX weeks.

I just hope this is a 1 and done movie.

I would prefer the classic comic line up that Zemo lead (Atlas, Beetle, Fixer, Moonstone and Songbird) but this MCU line up is ok.

I would add Tony Dalton's Swordsman to the line up as well. I feel like he would add a fun dynamic to that MCU line up.

I would use Graviton as the main villain. Graviton went up against the Thunderbolts a few times in the comics and they aren't going to use him in the Avengers movies. The Agent's Of Shield versions (Hall and Talbot) could be multiverse versions.

I feel like there are multiple ways they could do this.

I would personally really prefer if they still introduced a bunch of the classic characters as minor antagonists in upcoming projects. Something like:
- Melissa Gold as an associate of Titania in She-Hulk
- Abner Jenkins as a minor antagonist in Armor Wars
- Karla Sofen getting the Kree artifact moonstone in The Marvels
- Erik Josten getting Pym Particles in Quantumania
- I'd be fine with replacing Fixer/Techno with Ghost
- Of course having Zemo as the leader
- Maybe adding Taskmaster

Alternatively they could combine it with the Dark Avengers, in which case it would be what Val is building
- U.S. Agent
- Black Widow II (Yelena)
- Abomination
- maybe Detroit Steel (Hammer) or some other armored villain from Armor Wars
- maybe Taskmaster could mimic Hawkeye?
- maybe Mordo?
I'm not sure who else would be good fits here. I don't think we really have good fits for "dark" versions of Thor, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Falcon, War Machine, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man, etc. yet who are still alive?
I wouldn't really mind such a team, but I would prefer they not be "The Thunderbolts".

Third possibility is just making it a group of existing villains without considering the comics or whether they make a good Avengers parallel. That would probably combine characters like
- Zemo
- Abomination
- Ghost
- Taskmaster
and who knows who else..

I'm curious to see which way they'll go. I'm hoping for the first, but I'm afraid it's not very likely..

This would be my ideal team as well. I also kind of hope those rumors from years ago that the Leader would be a factor in this are true.

I think Dalton's Swordsman would probably be a better fit for a possible Heroes for Hire team in the MCU.

As for trying to mirror the Avengers, well......Val is going to have a hard time finding her Thor unless it's Sylvie or Loki but those seem unlikely.

it's only speculation that they are in the film because Russell Crowe is Zeus. I don't think there hasn't been anything about anyone being cast for either of those roles, either coming from the trades or from those so called insiders like Daniel RPK or Charles Murphy. I can't picture Simon Russell Beale as either of them since I would think that the actors cast as either Aires or Hercules are going to be closer in age to Hemsworth and Beale is 61.

Not originally, but later versions have definitely become that at times.

It was originally more like the Masters of Evil taking on new secret identities and pretending to be heroes during a period when the Avengers and Fantastic Four were gone for a while, in an attempt to gain the public's trust and get into positions of power and access to the Avengers' former resources. However some of the members started to actually like the idea of being redeemed and the positive perception they were getting, so conflict arose from that within the group.

That's not true. It was all Zemo's plan. They were intended as a new Masters of Evil posing as good guys for personal gain. What you describe with the government control sounds more like the original Suicide Squad than Thunderbolts.

Though versions more like that have been in the comics later (as the Redeemers, as the Thunderbolts during Civil War, etc.)
