Heh, at this rate, I'll have the entire RPG community playing three characters in All-Star by New Year's.

Eddie Brock and Batman are both APPROVED. Also, the roster is updated.

Guys I want to apologize for the lack of posts lately. I am in the hospitality industry so this is a very busy time of the year for me. Combined with a few minor sports injuries and well, I just haven't had the time/focus.

I'm still in the game though and will post as soon as time permits.

Yeah, I couldn't even get the document open at work tonight we were so busy...

Guess I'll have to try again tomorrow night...

#1 Heck yes we have a Magneto!

#2 I will have posts up tomorrow night. Sorry for the hold up Andy.

Merry X-Mas to all my fellow rpgers. Just giving everyone a heads i wont be able to get a post up till sunday night or monday. Getting that family time in.

Hey, Watchman, in regards to your last post? Area 51 isn't an active military base anymore. It was completely destroyed when the Ultron AI went active back in the day.

If anyone read my last post and happened to be wondering why it didn't synch with my next to last Mr. Fantastic post, edited that post. The FF didn't seem like a good fit for the fight in SF.

Whilst I have a potential final line-up of Thunderbolts, if anybody wants to jump in on this just give me a shout and we'll work something out.

Dropping Normie. Got a problem with it? :cmad:

The All-Star Marvel RPG
Character Application

Character you would like to play:
Matt Murdock/The Devil of Hell's Kitchen

Powers: None. Although Matt is adept in many forms of self-defense taught to him by Stick, a Hell's Kitchen karate master.

Basic history of the character (Up until this point): Born in Hell's Kitchen, Matthew Murdock grew up the son of legendary boxer Jack Murdock and former ring girl Grace Murdock. Matt was born blind, and struggled early on to adapt to the world. A local blind man, known only as Stick, took Matt under his wing and showed Matt not only how to thrive in the seeing world, but to defend himself. During his childhood, he was easily goaded by friends and classmates into performing stunts, earning him the nickname of "Daredevil".

When Matt was 15, trouble struck the Murdock house when Jack refused to throw a fixed fight. Local hood Roscoe "The Fixer" Sweeney dispatched his men to the Murdock house, where Matt was tortured and Grace Murdock was gunned down. From then on, Jack threw the fights the Fixer asked him to, and Matt was emotionally scared for the rest of his life.

Both Murdock men took Grace's death in different ways. Jack became more engrossed in his fighting career, while Matt began to seek justice. As Jack started to slowly climb the rungs of the fighting world ladder, Matt graduated from high school and enrolled at Columbia University.

June 16th, 2007 was the day of penance for the Murdock men. As Matt graduated from Columbia Law School that afternoon, Jack was poised to fight for the Heavyweight Championship that night.

Unbeknown to his father, Matt skipped the prime-time fight that night. He headed to the Hell's Kitchen gym owned by The Fixer and killed him. Around the same time Matt was getting justice, his father was sent sprawling to the canvas floor where he died. Jack Murdock had taken one concussion too many.

Now, Matt works as a partner in Nelson & Murdock Law Firm with college friend Foggy Nelson. During the nights, Matt seeks out those who wish to seek justice and accepts them into his secret order. He is the guardian of Hell's Kitchen. Its Guardian Devil.

Why Have You Chosen That Character?: Daredevil is one of my all time favorite characters, and I have a pretty cool idea for him (thanks to MB's help)

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character (IE: How are you changing him or her?): First off, Matt is blind from birth and doesn't have powers. He gets by on his sheer will. Also, his quest is more for his mother than his father. She is the one he seeks out justice for. The big change is Daredevil. While he still protects as the devil, he is the leader of The Devils a group that protects Hell's Kitchen. Matt's group of vigilantes are all dressed as devils, all of them seeking absolute justice and sticking to the code of "eye for an eye". Personality wise, I see Matt as a mix between 616 DD, Tyler Durden, and Dexter Morgan.

Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): A decent RPer with experience on these boards, and a DD fan.

Please provide a small sample post in the format you wish to portray your character in (Minimum three paragraphs/one line of dialogue, maximum six paragraphs):

Hell's Kitchen

The grunts and groans echoed through the empty void. The space was completely devoid of light, save a small spotlight pointed at at bloody and beaten man hanging from the rafters, his arms wrapped in chains. The man had been stripped naked. Two men stood around just on the outside of the light and waited for him to catch his breath.

"We can do this all night," Luke Cage told him. "But you looking a little tired, homie. Something tells me you ain't gonna make it to the sunrise. Not unless you give us what we want."

Another man stepped out of the shadow. His mask had been removed, revealing his dark hair and olive complexion. His name was Shang Chi. He walked next to the beaten man and casually drove his fist into the man's sternum, pounding his already beaten kidneys. "Tell us what we want to know."

The man coughed hard, spitting up blood and splattering the concrete floor. His name was Jimmy Portofino. A lieutenant in the Manfredi Crime Family, he had been snatched in the middle of the night by these two men. He was one of the top henchmen for the crimelord known as Silvermane.

Silvermane had hired an assassin and that assassin had killed two men that were coworkers of a sort to Cage and Chi. The men they knew as only Devil Five and Six had given their lives for absolute justice.

"Tell us what you know," a voice spoke from deep in the darkness. The voice startled Portofino. It was Him. The Devil of Hell's Kitchen. "Tell us who killed our friends. Who did Silvermane hire?"

Chi calmly stared at Portofino before delivering a backhanded slap to his face. Blood dripped down the mobster's face and his whole body began shaking in fright. "P-p-please, I don't wanna die."

"There is nothing we can do about that. You've made your lot in life. You're garbage, pure and simple. You either tell us what we know and die with as clear of a conscious as filth like you will ever have, or you simply die."

"**** you, then!" Provofino spat.

"I would consider that if I were you. Three."

Shang Chi nodded and pressed his palm into Portofino's side. The man screamed out in pain as the Devil pressed his pressure point. "My friend here can make your death be the most painful experience in your life. Every nerve ending in your body screaming out in pain. Before it's over, you'll be begging for death."

"I hope Bullseye kills every one of you ***holes!"

"Two. Three."

Cage stepped out from the shadow with a baseball bat filled with nails. "We have a name, gentlemen. Have fun with our uncooperative friend."

The Devil of Hell's Kitchen listened from his spot in the shadows as his two soldiers took turns beating the mid-level mobsters to death.

Why is it so hard to get someone to play Norman and ****ing stick with it?! :cmad:

On the other hand, it's great to see the Devils come back. Matt Murdock is APPROVED.

The All-Star Marvel RPG
Character Application

Character you would like to play: RONIN / David Sum

Powers: Weapons and combat expert. Highly trained in most forms of martial arts. Peak level endurance, strength, speed, agility. Highly developed healing factor.

Basic history of the character (Up until this point):

For centuries Japan and it's peoplehave fought. Their battles were constantly brutal and unending. From the ancient Dynasties to the modern day politicking, those battles bred heroes and villains, the latter taking a firm hold of the country and establishing a world reknowned underbelly. However, amongst the shadows, in the dark space between night and day a lone man has battled against the evil and corruption for centuries.

Legends stretching back to the ancient times tell of a man, a masterless samurai who stood against those who would seek to taint the land with their tyranny. They call him the Ronin. The vengeful shadow. They speak his name in hushed tones and fear the silent darkness. For as long as records have been kept, the Ronin has fed the land he has sworn to protect with the blood of the guilty.

Why Have You Chosen That Character?: Ronin as a concept is a very interesting character. No matter who wears the outfit, Ronin is a persona they inherit. Tying it to David Sum, allows the character not to be bogged down in any real history whilst providing the basic powerset (extreme healing factor/longevity) to be able to tell a story spanning not only decades, but potentially centuries.

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character (IE: How are you changing him or her?): Well, as I previously mentioned, this is the Ronin identity with a new bearer. I plan on making Ronin less a placeholder mantle for established and mold him into a true hero in his own right.

Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): A wealth of writing experience and a hero not based in New York!

Please provide a small sample post in the format you wish to portray your character in (Minimum three paragraphs/one line of dialogue, maximum six paragraphs):

Blood pumping, Ronin quickly ran across the boardwalk leading away from the inner sanctum. Halfway, two more of the white ninjas leaped onto the pathway, stalling him once again. He quickly threw three of his shurikens as he pulled out his nunchaku. These adversaries were all trained with the sword, few having fought against anyone wielding a different weapon. Quickly, he closed the distance let loose with a barrage of kicks, knocking one off of the boardwalk altogether. His comrade faired better, blocking the quick strikes, and lunging toward Ronin. The dark warrior twisted around the wild thrust, and wrapped his weapons around his enemies sword, wrenching it out of his grasp. Throwing the blade away, he kicked him away, sending him after his brother.

Finally reaching the door, he pushed it open. The general heat of the building gave way to frigid cold as Ronin stepped out onto the roof garden. The moon was high in the sky and illuminated the scene in a milky, ghostly glow. From the heavens, rain lashed down in long dark streaks. Stood in the center, three men stood, their bodies covered in the red of the Hand clan. Each of the trio held weapons at the ready and even though it was night, Ronin could see the dead, unfeeling glare of their eyes. Slowly he stepped out into the rain, drawing both his katanas from his back.

"The Samurai is not of the Hand. I have no quarrel with you so I offer you one chance. Walk away and live. Stand and there is only death".

No one spoke and all was silent barring the patter of raindrops bouncing from the glittering blades.

Ronin growled and ground his teeth, tightening his grip on the embelished hilts of his blades. "Fine. You choose to deny your own salvation, come to me and embrace your end".

Then the Hand moved, lightning fast. Ronin dashed to one side and drew his first blade in a sweeping horizontal arc. The first Hand ninja blocked the blow, but Ronin was moving fluidly and brought the second blade around, following the path of the first. The Hand ninja fell to his knees, holding his hands to his waist as he tried to stop his insides from spilling into the mud.

Ronin spun just in time to block a blow from the second and parry it into a vicious riposte. The ninja was good though and threw up his own guard, deflecting the wicked strikes.Ronin feinted a high cut and struck the hand ninja in the chest with a heavy boot, sending him tumbling. Without watching where the man landed he spun and found the third man rushing in with a wicked looking spear. Ronin leapt up and over, somersaulting in the air and bringing his blades down in a double cut. The first smashed the wood of the spear as the second sheared through the flesh and bone of the Hand ninjas clavicle and cam down into his chest. Ronin darted around as the man fell and found the second man regaining his feet.

Slipping a hand into his belt he found a trio of throwing stars and unleashed them. the weapons sliced through the rain, glinting in the pale of the moon as they flew. The Ninja blocked the first and the second but the third hit him directly between the eyes. He was dead before his body hit the ground.

Without hesitation Ronin raced across the garden until he came to the center. Here, surrounded by small flowers and various small exotic grasses was the sky-light he had been looking for. Within stodd the men he was hunting.

"You're mine now Samurai"
Ronin snarled to himself.

Ronin took a step back and leapt, smashing through the glass into the room below.

ts

Tonight, Kenuichio Harada would die.

I dig the concept, and it should hopefully open up a lot of stuff to have some more heroes that aren't holed up in NYC.

Ronin is APPROVED.

Bringing her back, but with an altered history.

The All-Star Marvel RPG
Character Application

Character you would like to play: Private Wanda Harkness akaScarlet

Powers: The Scarlet Witch possesses the mutant power of affecting probability fields. By a combination of gestures and mental concentration, she creates a hex-sphere, a finite pocket of reality-disrupting quasi-psionic force, which upon reaching its intended target, causes disturbance in the molecular-level probability field surrounding the target. Thus, unlikely phenomena will occur. Among the many phenomena she is able to cause are: the sudden melting of gun barrels, the spontaneous combustion of any flammable object, the rapid rust or decay of various organic and inorganic materials, the poltergeist-like deflection of an object in flight, the sudden evacuation of air from a given volume, the disruption of energy transmissions and fields, and so on. These phenomena occur practically instantaneously after the completion of her hex. Her range of hex-casting is limited by her line of sight. (She cannot watch a live television broadcast and cause a hex-phenomenon to occur at its point of origin.)

Scarlet Witch's hex-casting ability had a 20% unreliable factor and she is limited in the range of sight, although she has been able to overcome the latter limitation on occasion via extreme concentration and sorcerous enchantment.

Wanda is also a living focal point for the earth's magic. Her sorcerous training with Agatha Harkness is separate from her mutant ability of probability (science). But the mixture of the two makes her considerably more powerful than just using her probability powers. She has a special affinity for the natural elements and materials that true witches utilize in their spells: the four alchemical elements, wood, organic substances, etc. The reliability factor of her hex-casting ability is also limited by her physical condition: when well rested, in good health and mentally and emotionally alert Scarlet Witch can cast numerous hex-spheres in rapid succession and attain desirable results for almost an hour. Her powers are yet to evolve, which could give her the mutant ability to alter reality on a vast scale by way of magic. (Thanks Comicvine)

Basic history of the character (Up until this point):

Magda was part of an all-female cult, a Sisterhood, that lived high up in Mount Wundagore. They were Wiccas and practiced magical occults and dark arts on a day to day basis. Magda was the youngest and most naive of the Sisterhood, which is what lead her to meet passing traveler and Holocaust survivor, Erik Lehnsherr.

The two were young but instantly fell in love. Their love was short-lasted as Erik moved on from Wundagore, leaving a pregnant and heartbroken Magda behind. Believing she was only carrying a girl in her stomach, she traveled up to Whisper Hill, to visit the great Agatha Harkness. Agatha granted any daughter Magda may have, with the strong sorcery that may protect her all her life. Magda and her sisters also cast various spells to protect her child.

When Magda gave birth to her child, she found she was also carrying a Son. Not wanting a boy in their cult, the Sisterhood took the boy to the nearest village and gave him up for adoption to the Maximoff gypsies. However, Agatha Harkness came back for the child she had blessed and stole her away from Madga, thus raising her as her own.

Now named Wanda Harkness, she is in full control of her abilities. It was not until Wanda discovered she had additional latent mutant abilities, that she discovered the work of Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr. Wanda believed that the mutants should roam free in the world, without discrimination. This caused her to join Erik's ''Brotherhood'', unaware that she was his daughter.

Wanting to put an end to the military style treatment of mutants, Wanda agreed to work for HAMMER'S X-Men, as a sleeper.

Why Have You Chosen That Character?: She's a very complex character and can be explored alot, with her powers, her family connections and her true loyalty.

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character (IE: How are you changing him or her?): This Wanda will be slightly more hung up on freedom and rights for mutants to really know the true effect of her actions. She'll be devoted to pleasing the Brotherhood and taking down the X-Men's way of seeing the future for mutants.

Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): I can bring great twists to well-known characters and give them depth. I can also interact well with other players and create interesting histories that are yet to be explored.

Please provide a small sample post in the format you wish to portray your character in (Minimum three paragraphs/one line of dialogue, maximum six paragraphs):

Peacefully meditating, Wanda's soft hums echo throughout the X-Men headquaters, soothing the people around her. Her eyes are softly closed, yet a faint red aura surrounds her eyelashes. Mystical symbols softly float from her fingertips, before her astral is projected to the roof of the Mansion. South west, to be exact. The witch carefully observes her team making it's way in to the jet, that is HAMMER's property. Her eyes squint and she manages to catch a glimpse of Emma Frost. The SHIELD Agent. Her mind scans through past memories, her training from the Brotherhood. Ah, of course. Nick Fury's SHIELD. Now what would a girl like Emma, be doing with the X-Men?

She smirks. It seems like the X-Men have infact gone against HAMMER's orders and broken out the ''Rogue'', Anna Marie. Oh, and it gets better. They've broken out the scum, Remy LeBeau. The astral projection scowers low, hovering off the roof and carefully making its way towards the team mates. She catches quick snippets of their conversation. Trying to break Jean Grey out, are we? We'll have none of that...

The astral fades slowly, moving with the gusts of wind. With one gentle breeze, a small red light appears, then disappears almost in an instant. The astral has traveled somewhere else. Somewhere darker, more free. Somewhere only a distance away from the X-Men. The astral instantly spots a small, yet well-built hunched man, leaning against a dirt-covered wall. "Toad! It is me, Scarlet." The astral is quickly made visible to the african, who is known by her peers as Ororo 'Storm' Monroe.

"Been a long time since you last updated us, witch."

"Silence! I do not have long. You must warn Magneto and the others of the incoming attack. The X-Men, along with a SHIELD agent, Emma Frost - the diamond skinned one."

Ororo chuckles, then gently smirks. She looks up at Scarlet and arches and eyebrow, flicking her wrists. A large ray of flies buzz directly behind Scarlet, before Toad opens his mouth to speak once again. "I was beginning to think you'd left us, for the other side. You've done well in gathering this information...for a witch," Scarlet bites her tounge, resisting the temptation to rip Toad's long tongue to shreds. She bows her head down, before fading away. The astral has left the dark and entered the world of light.

With a large gust of red smoke and small whirling sound, a female figure slowly begins to assemble in the middle of the jet. She waits until the smoke has faded, before finally speaking. "Private Wanda Harkness reporting for duty..."

Hmmmmmmm.........

On the one hand, we've already established that there are no retcons in the game, so if we're sticking with that, then if you do pick up Scarlet again, it'll have to be with what you already did with her.

However, you only posted with her a couple of times and didn't really interact with anyone, so I can't honestly say I see any harm in doing some tweaks.

I'm just more concerned with what kind of precedent it will set if we start making allowances and exceptions--having four or five different versions of the same character because the current player didn't like what the last one did is one of the things that made such a mess out of the first rendition of Ultimate DC.

I'll have to confer with EBJ before passing a final judgment.

(also, Storm is one of the mutants that Frost is turning away from the Brotherhood, along with Havoc and Jubilee)

Thought and feedback on the first Ronin post would be appreciated. This is something of a departure from my usual writing comfort zone so it'd be great to know what you guys think

To be fair, she's still got the same concept as being a spy for the Brotherhood, not knowing Erik's her father and not being raised with Quicksilver. Instead she was just raised with Agatha. And Ok i'll edit that

I gotcha. The tweaks themselves aren't really that big a deal; it's just that I don't want it to be brought up as an excuse for other people to retcon other characters later. Sort of a 'slippery slope' thing, if you will. I'm pretty we'll be able to approve this one without any real issue, though.

I'm still writing mine... I'm just not posting them because dialogue's a pain in the butt and come Thursday I'll have compueter access again.

So expect a veritable wall of text in a matter of days.

Allright, I haven't been able to get a hold of EBJ, but I'm gonna go ahead and approve J'Adore for Scarlet. In addition, a slight tweak to the no-retcons rule: if a character has been established in IC, but did not interact with any other characters and was used for less than 5 (ish) posts, then the character can be retconned.

Also, I'm starting up the weekly roster checks again starting tomorrow, so everyone start looking alive.

I'm probably behind on Strange, but I'm working on a doozy of a post, I think.

Sorry I was disposed today. I agree with the decision to approve J'adore, nonetheless. As for future retcons, I'm approaching them very cautiously.

Yeah, I think that's gonna have to be discussed on a case-by-case basis. I think the less-than-five-posts bit should be a good rule of thumb, but yeah, character retcons won't be something taken lightly.

Okay, question: is the Red Skull inside the Giant Mecha, or is that just a minion he's created?
