MCU X-Men: The Lineup (Poll)

There's a lot of debate about whether they should stick with the original 5 for the first MCU X-Men movie or go with a slightly more modern lineup. Personally, I think they should stick as closely to the Animated Series s1 lineup as possible.

This is somewhat tricky for me because with my favorites from the Fox movies, like Wolverine and Rogue, me liking how they were makes it harder to accept likely changes, and at the same time there are characters who've shown up a lot in the movies or had a lot of focus recently...but at the same time I don't want to choose not particularly interesting characters for the sake of being different.

Assuming Olivia Munn can't be in a Deadpool X-Force movie, I'd like to see Psylocke in it. Kitty Pryde and Gambit have potential and a limited amount of exposure so far. I suppose Professor X has to be there, but I'd have him more in the background. And I'll bite the bullet and say Jean and Cyclops, too.

Would like to see the original five as the initial team at the start, but have them meet a few more mutants, like Storm, during the later half of the film.

I think the inclusion of other characters comes down to personal preference.

Professor Xavier: Needs to be present to articulate the ideals the X-Men stand for in a show-not-tell way. A caring father figure whose heart bleeds for "his X-Men" whenever they're in peril. Even Wolverine speaks respectfully to "Chuck".

Storm: Our fearless, regal leader. Not afraid to confront the Professor when she thinks he's meddling in her bailiwick. Warm personality, visual flair in and out of battle, and racists will surely hate her guts -- what's not to like?

Wolverine: My preference would be to limit his role to a supporting player. Have him be comic relief in the downtime scenes, do cool stuff with those knives that shoot out of his hands in the fights, and take Kitty under his wing. Twenty or thirty lines in the whole film should be plenty.

Rogue: My favourite character, bar none.

Beast: He's super smart, adorably fuzzy, and beats up *****ebags. This is probably the most aspirational character in the team from my perspective.

Colossus: The irl regime in Moscow has decided to throw its country's international reputation in the trash yet again, so an avenue to make nuanced points aimed at the alt-right's favourite authoritarians could be useful.

Psylocke: Martial arts badassery, body horror, a smidge of philosophical questioning of what makes you you . . . okay, that's basically Ghost in the Shell, but handled correctly Ghost in the Shell is awesome, I swear!

Kitty Pryde: First and greatest of Wolverine's kid sidekicks and she who reminds us of the Professor's jerkitude. Haters to the left.

It'd be an interesting lineup although I think most people want Cyke done right as the leader of the X-Men after all this time. I'd love for them to show Storm as co-leader too.

That's half the reason why I wrote in Bishop. The other half of the reason is because regardless of whether universes merge or we get a clean reboot, Bishop needs to be there to be an audience surrogate since things will have changed and he'd exist to get some level of exposition as to what's different. If he isn't present, the changes will likely confuse audiences.

We've seen so much of wolverine already honestly. I can definitely see why people are excited about seeing a proper storm.

Personally I wouldn't even have wolverine in straight away. I'm looking forward to seeing the x-men not wolverine and the x-men

Alot of X-MEN fans don't like Wolverine. I think he's more popular among people who don't follow X-MEN closely imo.

I think the X-MEN Trinity is Cyclops, Storm, & Phoenix (or Rogue)
