Dark of the Moon Megan Fox WON'T be in TF3

Ok so your saying exactly what I said, she's used to show Kong's more then a giant monster. Still doesn't make her the main character. You could argue that she is for the first hour, but once Kong hits its his movie from that point on (And seeing as the movie is three hours, two hours is definitely enough time for Kong's story). Without Kong the whole movie would fall apart.

Actually, it does make her a main character.

Here's how you can tell.

When you can remove a character and it impacts the plot and emotional impact of the film?

That's a main character.

And yeah, Kong is a main character too.

By your own admission, she is a main character for the first hour at which point is sounds like you're demoting her from being a main character and promoting Kong to main character status. Continuing with that idea, Kong isn't a main character until hour 2+.

BOTH are main characters from that point on.

The ice pond scene? Impossible if she's no longer a main character. Likewise with removing Kong.

What I think you're TRYING to say is that they're focal characters.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Focal_character

In any narrative, the focal character is the character on whom the audience is meant to place the majority of their interest and attention. He or she is almost always also the protagonist of the story; however, in cases where the "focal character" and "protagonist" are separate, the focal character's emotions and ambitions are not meant to be empathized with by the audience to as high an extent as the protagonist (this is the main difference between the two character terms). The focal character is mostly created to simply be the "excitement" of the story, though not necessarily the main character about whom the audience is emotionally concerned. The focal character is, more than anyone else, "the person on whom the spotlight focuses; the center of attention; the man whose reactions dominate the screen."

The focal character is also not necessarily the same thing as the viewpoint character, through whose perspective the story is seen. In Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's works of Sherlock Holmes, Watson is the viewpoint character, but the story revolves around Holmes, making him the focal character.

Sam, Optimus and Bumblebee are the focal characters.

Optimus and Sam are the main viewpoint characters. Their viewpoints coinciding over the course of the film brings both storylines together. In essence, making the audience that sympathized with Sam, carry that over to the Autobots, specifically Optimus and Bumblebee to a lesser degree due to his limited narrative qualities.

All the other characters are secondary to a large degree.

Fair enough, good post.

But I still don't see the need to have to have Sam as a main character. If they made it so that once Optimus and the other bots show up Sam becomes a secondary character I would have liked that much better but ah what are you going to do.

^Thats fair enough, but that movie would cost $500 million, and no studio is going to do that.

I gotta say I dont care if she's in the movie or not. I've never been a fan of her.

With Jonah Hex bombing, did anyone really think otherwise, I bet Megan is slapping herself in the face for her comments last year.

Pretty sure that's not the reason she's on in Transformers 3...but the media is spinning an image and idea of her that's pretty sad.

It's as if they want her to fail...which I don't get.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they lampshaded the recast somehow. I bet she's going to show up and ask Sam "You like what I've done to my hair?" to which Sam will say "you look, uh... Different! I love it, really!" since Megan Fox has black hair and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has blonde hair. They lampshaded recasting Rhodey in Iron Man 2 also, when Don Cheadle says something to the effect of "I'm here and I'm not going away so stop whining about it," which while being said to Tony Stark on film was also being said to the fanboys who were complaining about the re-cast.

yup, that only works in sitcoms

like Fresh Prince of Bel-Air :hehe:

She hasn't had as much as surgery as people think. Megan's that classic case of make up changing an appearance.

Not saying she hasn't had surgery...but a lot of the time it's more make up/angle of the image than anything.

denial.

from the beach pics its obvious that she had a lot of work done in the last 12 months.

Not denial.

She has had work done. Not disputing that. But, if you look at a lot of her pictures at premieres and events, her appearance could look very different depending on the amount of make up she uses. Sometimes she over dues it. Sometimes she does it just right and the results are sometimes startling.

But, yes, she's had work done...but it isn't as drastic as one thinks. It's mostly injections than actual knife work.

I kinda glad Megan is gone so people will stop drooling over her when the movie comes out. I never understood why people thought she was the hottest girl on the planet.

Idk if shes had anything done, shes still gorgeous and beautiful. But maybe its just that shes not as tan before? When shes tan her freckles (though small) appear more and her eyes stand eye when shes tanner. Shes really pale now, and yeah make up can change an appearance

Agreed! I don't know why people go to see movies like TF to see her when there are pornos with hotter chicks doing anything you want them to do. If I'm going to drool over a chick, I'm drooling over her 100%, no need of just being teased. :o

I think I now understand why Fox won't be in the movie-- Nazi comments aside--

Rosie looks a lot more natural. I don't know if she's had work done, but she at least looks a lot closer to where Megan was prior to her surgery fiasco than Megan does currently. Megan has pretty much lost all of the natural "girl next door" quality that she had in the first film, and ironically, a british underwear model looks more "girl next door" than the trailer park princess. Bay has an eye for how to make women look good on screen, and I wouldn't be surprised if he was getting irritated with how plastic Fox was getting. And I'm sure the Nazi stuff didn't help, either.

And Fox got that work done because she DIDN'T want to look like a porn star?

Fox is only shooting herself in the foot with all this surgery. She can't play "normal women" with her new face, because she looks like someone who is very high maintenance and has had a lot of expensive surgery done. In pretty much any role other than "the hot stuck up high maintenance chick," or the porn star / hooker / whatever, Fox is going to look ridiculous and not believable.

I mean come on... The fact that Fox makes a supermodel look like the girl next door should say something about Fox's visual accessibility, lol.

Holy ****... those two pics are a real eye opener to me. I didnt think it was that bad. She was fine the way she was. When she gets older she's gonna look worse.

With or without Megan Fox, I'll still watch TF3. Best wishes to Megan Fox for getting married in Hawaii.

I think as long as michael bay stays in charge of the transformers films, we could well be getting more ?transformers girls?. We already have 4, excluding one more in Tf3.

This is giving James bond a run for his... Pleasure

*looks at thread* That's nice. Honestly, eye candy or not, Megan Fox is incapable of giving any decent performance. Jonah Hex and Jennifer's Body made me very aware of this situation; so her leaving and being replaced is very sufficient, if not I bet my soul the new girl will be the next Meryl Streep in comparison to Megan's rotten and wooden acting. :yay:

As for Bay, god wish him luck if he makes a third Transformers; I know it's already happening, but after Pearl Harbor and ROTF, a man must know his limits and capability of directing..... which so far after having a dumb rear end and suppressive urge to use the rest room, my 150 minutes in his world of cinema was a living hell. That and I didn't get enough Soundwave. :csad:

ROTF was a huge success and plenty of people (including myself) enjoyed the hell out of it. 99% of the hate comes from annoying fanboys, most of which reside on this very board

so I wouldn't exactly say he needs to question his directing capability just yet. He's perfectly fine for the time being

I agree with your post.
Im not some diehard michael bay fan because lets face it hes not perfect, but while I admit ROTF had its problems as far as fx and story it still was a entertaining movie for what it was. I agree with you because he is the type of director that studios turn too, to pump out loud action packed summer blockbusters that will bring people in and damn if he hasnt mastered that craft. I do however wish megan would of stayed but my god that picture above is disconcerning with what she has done, she was very good looking, why change?
