Ok, you didn't read my post at all, did you? German Expressionism was a movement in filmmaking. They were both opperating under a shared assumption of how films should be made and both used similar techniques. Breathless is a film nior, while The Girl at the Monceau Bakery is a short film about a love triangle, but they are both comparable as they come out of the French New Wave and thus share a great deal of common ground in their approach to filmmaking. Since when did genre become the defining quality of a film?
