All of this bitter back and forth will be totally irrelevant if this movie is a disastrous flop.

What a difference between this movie and what Marvel has going with GOTG.

GOTG has (most) fans excited and eagerly awaiting the movie and hoping its a hit. Keep in mind how few people even knew who GOTG were prior to the latest trailer.

This new FF movie however keeps dragging along with nothing going for it other than fan backlash and arguments about supposed racism. There is almost nothing positive or hopeful about this project. It's a depressing mess.

Not everybody is excited about GOTG it looks boring to me. I don't think it's going to be bad but I don't think I'm gonna walk away excited about seeing it. It just seems very cookie cutter cut out of every other Marvel film since Iron Man 3.

So...the argument about Jordan casting is really; what's the harm about changing Storm ethnicity if all his character traits are still the same...

Well if that's true, then why change him at all?

Cuz Trank made some kinda vow to cast MBJ early and often.

Nothing new here...another person pretty much calling those who do not understand the casting of MJB as stupid, ignorant, bigots....without of course using any of those terms, but it is rather obvious. These fans are just stupid, and they live back in the 1960s.

But, in reality really bringing nothing new to the table as to why?

ooooh wait....I see his reasoning, because this will end racism. BS....I call BS. Racism will always be around as long as people are looking within every post, beneath every discussion and around every corner where a minority might be standing and next to him/her is a "high and mighty, holier than thou member of the thought police and academy of political correctness, because HOW DARE people have the desire to see their favorite piece of art/literature on the big screen as they have enjoyed it and remembered it for decades. HOW DARE THEY be so stupid, ignorant and narrow minded to simply have a desire to see a representation of their childhood brought to the theater. HOW RIDICULOUS OF THEM TO WANT THAT. HOW BIGOTED IS IT OF PEOPLE TO SIMPLY ASK................WHY THE CHANGE? HOW DARE YOU PEOPLE...."

Is there any doubt that if blonde guy was going to play Superman that would be a controversy?

How is this any different? Nobody would scream 'hairism' in that situation, but the exact same thing happens here and it's interpreted as racism.

Are they close friends in real life or something?

Still, it's a pretty stupid decision. All i hear from those who are in favor of the change is; 'but...he'll act just like Johny Storm!, his personalities won't change at all!!'

Then WHY change him in the first place?!?

Because we CAN is never a good reason nor is it a good answer.

The other answer i've heard often is; 'he's a GREAT actor! he'll have no problem playing Johny Storm!'

Sure, he's a good actor i agree, but good actor can also be miscast. I'm sure Danny de Vitto will have no problem playing a tough redneck, but that doesn't mean i wanna see him cast as Wolverine when Hugh Jackman finally retires.

At this point I say delete this forum. Because this arguing over Michael Fake Jordan & the cast is never going to end

Are you seriously comparing MBJ as Human Torch to the idea of Danny Devito as Wolverine? Sigh.

Well anyways, if you really think the actor is miscast because he is black, I really don't know what to say to you. He's at the right age, has the right personality, and is a good actor, so why not?

GotG looks cookie cutter? I don't see how. It looks totally different to any other mainstream CBM i've seen. It has a talking Raccoon who uses machine guns, a giant Tree type character and the opening to the trailer with the whole "I'm Star-Lord" and the reply "Who?!?" is really unique. Great way to market an unknown property. It's like Marvel know barely anyone knows who they are and they are playing up to it and making fun of themselves.

If Reed and Ben are both being portrayed by actors in their twenties, MBJ is not the right age for the role.

There is nothing about Human Torch that is inherently "white," so there is no reason for people to flip about Michael B. Jordan being cast as the character.

If "Oh I'm cool with the change, so everyone should just conform to it as well." is your only argument then why bother posting... I mean it's not going to change anything.

The majority of people who disagree with your assessment will not bother to debate with you but they're not going to rush out to see this film either. So our silence wouldn't be all that "golden" either.

At this point the ball is in your court to prove that this franchise wont "Flop On!" since most who don't like the cast wouldn't support this film with a AMC gift card.

A big part of these films is that the comic book's drawn images have made a strong impression on us and we want to see those images brought to the screen as accurately as possible.

The less they look like those characters, the less the movie works for those who spent a lot of time looking at those images.

People who didn't spend a lot of time looking at those drawings don't give a damn how closely the visuals match, so the visual accuracy doesn't matter to them (and the idea that it would matter to anyone else seems silly).

We see this with every film every time. People don't like the shades of red and blue in Superman's outfit. People don't like Batman's ears etc. etc. etc. We spent months right here discussing the size of the Thing's brow - not because it was a key part of who he was and not because we were racist, but because it didn't match the visuals that had been established by the comics.

It has everything to do with the visual appearance and how closely you are attached to the characters, and it has absolutely nothing to do with race (except for the simple fact that people of different races have visual appearances different than people of other races).

Michael B. Jordan Comments on Fantastic Four Criticisms

http://www.superherohype.com/news/294291-michael-b-jordan-comments-on-fantastic-four-criticisms

"It was expected. You kinda know going into it that people are used to seeing something one way, it's a continuity thing more than anything. People don't like change too much. But annoyed? Eh, you just kinda accept it, it is what it is. You can't make everybody happy. You just gotta accept that and know. I'm an actor, I have to do my job. I'm going to do my job the best I can and the way I've been doing it my entire life, my entire career. I grew up a comic book guy, I read comic books as a kid growing up, and the Fantastic Four/Human Torch is one of my favorite characters so I'm going to give it my everything. I can't wait. I don't really let it bother me at all. I just want to go into it and do the best job I can. We'll see what happens."

"The Human Torch is, 'yknow, that's fun. That's going to be a good time…To play a superhero? That's dreams coming true. It's not going to be hard. It's going to be fun to kind of show a side of me that I don't really get to show on screen, to be a little bit lighter, funnier, just more personality. It's going to be fun."

Its a one off movie anyway. Wont be a franchise

He was right though even with all the backlash people were STILL gonna go and see the movie anyway. Internet message board fanboys only make up a small percent of the main stream moviegoing audience. And even the haters would still go out and see the movie just to come back on message boards to complain about how much they hated it.

And that right there is the problem.I bet during one of the earlier meetings for this project, somebody goes; ' hey, you know what...why not make Johny Storm black this time!'...and all the other goes;'sure..why not!!'

Course i'm serious. But if Devito comparison is too much for you, then how bout this; why not...cast Denzel Washington as Frank Castle? he's played the same character basically in the man of fire...why not have a black Frank Castle this time, or Michael Jai white as Logan.he's played plenty of no nonsense, tough-as-nail mothertrucker plenty of times before...just gives him a sideburns and pointy hairstyles and let him say BUB a few times...

Why? well because...why not?

If you actually seen Micheal B Jordan in films he is a good actor than can do the role justice. But all you see is his skin color......... Were you at the casting audition? Maybe the reason he got the part because he WOW'ed the filmmakers and beat out the other guys that may have auditioned. Like I have said many times, name one time in the comics where Jonny Storms race played a heavy role in is character or backstory? Just chill out and see how the final film turns out before complaing. As fanboys have been WRONG in the past in regards to casting like Heath Ledger as the Joker and we all know how THAT turned out.

You do realize that he did not audition right ? He got cast because he is the directors bff. No other actor but Michael Fake Jordan was rumored for Johnny. He never auditioned. The role was automatically his the second Josh Trank signed his contract

It doesn't matter to me if he WOWéd the film maker...i don't care.I want my Johny Storm to at the very least resembles the character i've been reading for years.

If you think that through, almost none of the well known comics characters has a storyline where their race plays a role. That said, that's still not a good reason to change it for the movies.Changes for changes sake is never good. Think about it...if ALL you need is for the character traits to be present, then what about those examples i mentioned? are you okay with those?

Heck, Batman/Bruce Wayne is never defined by his race,so how bout having Donny Yuen as Bruce Wayne? we all know he can kick ass, right? martial arts expert?

I have to ask....why the hell do you incessantly refer to him as "Michael Fake Jordan"?

I do admit the race change is unnecessary, but it still doesn't bother me that they did it. He fits the role in almost every way except for skin color, so I don't see why it should be a huge sticking point.

No, it means the actors being cast as Reed and Ben aren't the right age for their roles.

Actually, I think Denzel Washington would be a really good Frank Castle.
