Same 'critic' said this of Guardians of the Galaxy:

Can't take anyone who says that seriously...

He wasn't wrong about what he said of Avengers 2 and David Ketchum might not be his/her real name

Kinda reminds me of Trank quitting Star Wars because nobody told him he had to make a Boba Fett film...

C'mon there have been plenty of creative freedoms in every comic book movie when it comes to origins or even the core of the character and that happened in the two other superhero movies that came this year. Where's Fantastic Four's director Josh Trank always cited Ultimate Marvel as his source material, just recently again in Fatman on Batman podcast part 2. :b

I feel this whole "classic source material" is just more brand marketing than anything. You could nitpick any cape movie to death about the changes they make. :csad:

Name a comic book movie that bares as little resemblance to the source material as the FF reboot, and we'll talk. "All movies make changes" is an excuse, when the problem here is that the movie bears more resemblance to Chronicle than to the source material.

Is it out of the realm of possibility for a reporter to give his/her reaction under an assumed name?

While claiming to work for a publication they don't work for and using a photo they took from someone that works for a different newspaper?

It's possible. It's also possible that in another solar system, aliens that look like aardvarks exist in a utopian society with free beer and donuts for all citizens.

I just got my ticket several hours ago!!!

Seeing this film in less than 24 hours!!! I cannot wait!

And by the way, at the mall that I went to, there was a press screening with drinks/foods for the film but I wasn't invited to it.

So 4 hrs to go till I see this movie. I am keeping a very open mind and I have avoided any spoilers and trailers but to be fair it hasn't been that hard as there has not been a huge marketing push.
Ill answer any Qs honestly and fairly, I should be online after the movie finishes. God I hope this movie is good as I love F4.

Looking forward to reading your reactions!

So Sue seems to be smarter than Reed.

OMG. That clip just made me cringe. Glad to know Reed is not only not the smartest person on the planet - he's not even the smartest person on his own team.

anyone catch Access Hollywood last night, and how Billy Bush kept calling this film a "Marvel Movie" ... my god.. FOX might have a decent opening weekend only because they keep confusing the general audience...... (i also just had to correct someone this morning on facebook who was asking a comic page if this film was tied into the Avengers films... -__-

To be honest, Sue being smarter (or atleast as smart) is not a problem for me. Reed is still the one who comes up with that tech.

Atleast Sue here is not a secretary like Alba was.

Because it is a Marvel movie... it's just not a Marvel Studios movie.

I know when I think of Reed Richards, "ineptness" and "danger to those around him" are the first terms that come to mind. :whatever:

I honestly have NEVER heard them describe the X-men or spider-man films as "marvel movies" by the media...

and unless you're in the know.... and you see that big ole marvel logo in front of every tv trailer... you're going to think it's part of the same franchise.

and it especially doesn't help when it's described like the marvel studios films as well

The movie has all the core elements of the Fantastic Four version it's based on.

This movie is influenced by Ultimate Fantastic Four...

  • Baxter Institute Think-Tank instead of Baxter Building
  • Dooms a programmer working at the Baxter institute.
  • Dooms metallic skin look and abilities
  • The four are young adult characters
  • Sue is a scientist as the Baxter institute
  • Reed is recruited into the Baxter Institute and forms a rivalry with Doom
  • The origin of their powers is from a teleportation experiment to the N-Zone
  • The military gets involved

^ THAT is the source material that influenced this movie.

Because it is a Marvel movie... it's just not a Marvel Studios movie.

Exactly.

Marvel movies = Movie based on Marvel comics characters.
Marvel Studios Movies = Movies based on marvel comics characters from that studio.
