Another Tom Clancy character is headed to Hollywood.

Paramount Pictures has tapped Michael B. Jordan to play Clancy hero John Clark in a new film series, Variety has learned.

Sources tell Variety that Paramount is developing two pics based on the Clancy books “Rainbow Six” and “Without Remorse,” both novels in which Clark is the main star. “Without Remorse” will be the first film of the two, serving as an origin story for the character.

Akiva Goldsman, who’s heading the new “Transformers” universe, will also be spearheading this endeavor as the film’s main producer with Jordan, Josh Appelbaum, and Corin Nemec also producing. Paramount is currently meeting with writers and directors for “Without Remorse.”

The news comes after Amazon and Paramount TV recently released a rebooted “Jack Ryan” series on its streaming platform, starring John Krasinski, to positive reviews.

That Michael B. Jordan is one to watch out for. :o

His career is going places for sure.

He could be very good in the role.
But is there anything he Isn't up for?

I assume they're moving John Clark's backstory from Vietnam vet to Iraq vet to make it more contemporary.

Really liked Willem Dafoe's performance. Can't really remember Liev Schreiber's.

I bought 'Without Remorse' years ago but the daunting 700+ pages heave meant that I have yet to read it. :O Switching it from Vietnam to Iraq will take away a pretty cool element of the story IMO but I imagine that is what theyy'll do and it could end up being a really cool role for MBJ who could inadvertently become the black James Bond!

Nice! Do you think we could see a Krasinski Jack Ryan/MBJ John Clark cross-over at some point?

It’s about time Rainbow Six went into development. Fuzzy on how that will work...isn’t John Clark supposed to be older? I suppose a younger Jack Ryan has worked pretty well.

Yeah, at least in the movies he was older. Defoe played him in Clear and Present Danger.

(Hangs head in shame over the fact that I’ve never actually read the books)

I guess it’s...his veteran status and vast experience is a huge piece of his character in a lot of incarnations. I suppose that could translate somewhat with a younger man, in terms of specific experience.

He has so many projects lined up. When's he suppose to be doing WRONG ANSWER with Coogler?

Taylor Sheridan to Rewrite Michael B. Jordan’s ‘Without Remorse’

Taylor Sheridan (‘Sicario,’ ‘Wind River,’ ‘Yellowstone’) has come on board to rewrite Paramount’s adaptation of the Tom Clancy novel ‘Without Remorse,’ with Michael B. Jordan starring as operations officer John Clark. The film marks a reunion for Sheridan and his ‘Sicario: Day of the Soldado’ helmer Stefano Sollima, who will be directing.

Since Amazon's picked it up I wonder if this means they will be able to use the character in future seasons of Jack Ryan?

This could be a big deal for Amazon. They could use a release that garners the attention Extraction and Bright and Bird Box garnered. MBJ is making some admirable moves in the industry I hope this becomes another hit for him.

They could but I doubt MBJ would want to appear in eps of a TV show he didn't produce, streaming or not. This was supposed to be his big franchise

Said this in another thread: I honestly think this was the best move. Nothing against Clancy's work or MBJ, but I really didn't see the movie doing that well in the world of SH movies or even non genre or whatever stuff like like John Wick, Fast and Furious, etc. Clancy's work seems better suited for TV and streaming.
This probably should've been a TV show from jump

It’s interesting which movies the studios pick to release straight to streaming and which they’ve delayed for a theatrical release to a later date. Kind of tells you right away their confidence in how big an audience they think it’ll pull.
