Tom Hardy To Play Al Capone In New Movie ‘Fonzo’ From Josh Trank

No problem. It's always a pleasure, man.

I keep forgetting this flick is a thing. At any rate, the makeup looks cool to me. How it translates in the actual film is another thing entirely though.

58% on RT.

Thanks, Trank.

After Fant4stic and now this, I am never watching anything he makes again.

Because of course you've already seen the movie, and RT scores are the law. You do know that many movies which are now considered cult classics got bad / mixed reviews back in the day? Not saying this one is, but you are already expressing judgement without the full knowledge of the facts.

And yeah, yeah, alright, Fantastic 4 was so bad that none is needed when it comes to Josh Trank, blah blah blah......

It frankly looked like junk, going by the trailers. Not sure I want to see it.

Yes, RT has been the indicator for me in the last couple of years. Not only the critics score, but the audience one more often aligns with my opinion than not if I end up seeing the film. Badly received films usually end up being bad upon viewing them.

So if I can prevent getting burned and wasting 2 hours of my time, why not do it rather than the opposite just so that I can "express judgement"?

That being said, this just got 88% audience score on RT. So I might check it out eventually.

Developing your opinions is fun! You may try it out sometime (generally speaking, not just in this case).

It’s available on VOD so it should be up on most platforms for purchase. Watching it right now, this is a Hardy ham fest. A true tour de farce.

also, around 19 minutes into the movie there’s a pretty cool nod to fantfourstic. You’ll know what I mean when you see it.

At the end of the day it's always important to make your own decisions, because you never know if you might enjoy something or not. That being said as optimistic as I was going into this it really did turn out being a real mess of a movie. Hardy's performance is so damn fascinating throughout though and there are moments where I did think he was great in the role, but you have so much dumb, silly **** in this movie that completely bogs it down like him crapping or pissing himself every five minutes and the stuff with carrots was really goofy as well.

It's a shame too because I actually thought the supporting cast was quite good in this, especially Linda Cardellini and Noel Fisher, but I could never get fully invested in the story and honestly when Tom Hardy wasn't hamming it up it did get pretty boring and dull really fast. I will always love Chronicle and I didn't entirely hate Fan4stic, but Trank just wasn't the right director or writer for this kind of material sadly.

5/10

I am going to check this out mainly for Tom Hardy, but thanks for your comments. Seems like you were pretty fair.

He was way more mature about it this time at least.

I got to be honest, when I read that interview where he was talking about all the stories being written about him and not recognizing the person being depicted, it sounded like Trank has a huge lack of self-awareness and hasn't done any soul searching at all.

Now, maybe was the media a little aggressive in covering his downfall? Yes, I would say that's possible. But does that also make him guilt-free? no

If the goal was to showcase his late stage syphilis and its impact on his body then him ****ting and pissing himself is par for the course. Syphilis destroys the nervous system which causes the person to lose bowel and bladder control.

So where does this leave Trank for his next film? If this was a box office hit, bad reviews wouldn’t make a difference. So will it be how well it sells VOD? Will he get another film to direct/write or will he make the transition to television now?

That's what I mean with making up your own opinion. Whether it's negative or positive. Thank you.
