Well, I tell you what, with this Transformers, I prefer ACTION Over Story, AYDAY!!!

Apparently so does Bay. If he had prefered Story he would have known that things like PLOT, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT/CHARACTERIZATION are IMPORTANT elements in a film. Action shouldn't take place instead of the story it should be as a reaction to what is happening in it. Introducing a character (characterization) and then killing them in a battle (action scene) is bad storytelling. Especially when you expect us to care.


I hope that Bay really leaves the franchise. I would much rather prefer JJ Abrams or even Steven Spielberg over Bay who seems intent on making a two-hour music video with elements of soft-porn.

WHen ROTF was first announced didn't MIchael Bay say that it also would be darker then the first movie .

Besides i'm sure that with these numbers the sequel will go forward. I hope that at least this time they work with a coherent script instead of constant rewriting done during production.

I feel sorry for the producers of the TF films, everytime they approach the camera work or design like real life it really is hampered by the fact that people would rather just be able to see everything

like if the camera was 50 feet away in every shot and everyone was a different colour like looking at multi coloured chess pieces on a board

the action is filmed like bourne
the creatures all look alike the same way people all looked alike on d day in saving private ryan

personally i'd rather be immersed and comprehend then simply watch two effects driven robots brightly coloured robots kick each other and shoot each other from a good distance away

I don't expect every action scene to be zoomed out to see everything (like the awesome forest battle), but it is hard to follow the action when you're dealing up close with such massive characters. The forest scene is my favorite precisely b/c it felt like watching an episode of the cartoon show in that you could see them clearly fighting each other and able to see what was going on.

You either get Bay, or you get a director they can hire cheaper to copy Bay's style, with the robots sharing the same designs as in the first two, for an overall effect of "Bay-lite". You aren't going to have a badass director step in on the scene and save the day. When has that ever happend in a franchise when the original director leaves?

yes because the studio sees transformers mega success as a result of the property and fine actors

ILM does about 3 movies a year(including TS) non of their cgi really win over the audience as bay lit TF seems to

in the end the success (and critiques) is bays vision of what would be just another genre property(see gi joe to see what a normal film makes), if they replace the director the studio won't let him change much

i'm sure someone could make it a little more character driven tho

ILM's CGI is always great, but it's not always front and center like it is in the Transformers (or Star Wars) movies. When the entire movie centers around giant robots, that CGI had better be unrivaled or the whole thing collapses.

I didn't read the topic in its entirety, but I could've sworn that all Bay said was that he was taking a year off of TF. So instead of starting to work on it this fall (For the 2nd movie, he started working on it in the fall after the 1st released), he's going to start working on it next fall.

I totally get that, after 2 movies, he must want to try something new.
Besides, he usually does say crap all the time (How many times did he say he didn't want to work on a 2nd movie, yet he did? Pff...)

lol Box office doesn't necessarily equal quality, it equals enjoyment. If nobody enjoyed those movies, they wouldn't have made that much money. Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li, for example, had a grand total of $12 million dollars for its entire run worldwide. That's because it had 0 enjoyment and 0 quality (and I did see it...ugh).
