Revenge of the Fallen Michael Bay out of the way!

Neither...

I'd take Megan over any of that ... so man-books and penis aren't my pick. lols. Okay!

Lets stay on topic shall we?

I wish Michael Bay would lessen the humor bits here and there for the third. Make it darker. Give Sam and Mikaelah more to do while being under the protection of the autobots. More Bumblebee! Please Bay!

OK. I got most of that silly stuff out of my system. :yay:

I agree with you.

More Sideswipe, too.

Well, I tell you what, with this Transformers, I prefer ACTION Over Story, AYDAY!!!

Apparently so does Bay. If he had prefered Story he would have known that things like PLOT, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT/CHARACTERIZATION are IMPORTANT elements in a film. Action shouldn't take place instead of the story it should be as a reaction to what is happening in it. Introducing a character (characterization) and then killing them in a battle (action scene) is bad storytelling. Especially when you expect us to care.

I hope that Bay really leaves the franchise. I would much rather prefer JJ Abrams or even Steven Spielberg over Bay who seems intent on making a two-hour music video with elements of soft-porn.

I didn't mind the humor and the off the wall kind of stuff. The only thing I would change is the design of the bots. Give them more solid color plates so they can be distinguished a little easier.

WHen ROTF was first announced didn't MIchael Bay say that it also would be darker then the first movie .

Besides i'm sure that with these numbers the sequel will go forward. I hope that at least this time they work with a coherent script instead of constant rewriting done during production.

yea, like they do is all war films

I feel sorry for the producers of the TF films, everytime they approach the camera work or design like real life it really is hampered by the fact that people would rather just be able to see everything

like if the camera was 50 feet away in every shot and everyone was a different colour like looking at multi coloured chess pieces on a board

the action is filmed like bourne
the creatures all look alike the same way people all looked alike on d day in saving private ryan

personally i'd rather be immersed and comprehend then simply watch two effects driven robots brightly coloured robots kick each other and shoot each other from a good distance away

peace

Maybe Unicron could just look like a giant boob.

I like that idea.

Bay is directing a movie called I am Number Four, about four alien adolescents who come to Earth after their planet is destroyed by an enemy force, and try to fit in, but soon discover their rivals hunted them down to Earth.

Transformers 3 is really only happening on 2012, them.

Wow, that sounds like Teenagers From Outer Space, a hilariously bad 1959 sci-fi movie that was featured on Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Darn those unreasonable moviegoers for wanting to actually see and comprehend the painstakingly-rendered robot battles in those movies! How dare they question the complex cinema-verite style of Michael Bay?

yea all 200 million in 5 days worth of them:cwink:

all of them sick and hungry for more after the first time:yay:

I don't expect every action scene to be zoomed out to see everything (like the awesome forest battle), but it is hard to follow the action when you're dealing up close with such massive characters. The forest scene is my favorite precisely b/c it felt like watching an episode of the cartoon show in that you could see them clearly fighting each other and able to see what was going on.

Found this funny picture. ^^ Didn't think where else to post it but wanted to share it!

Don't think you're going to get a "different vision for TF" if Bay leaves. You either get Bay, or you get a director they can hire cheaper to copy Bay's style, with the robots sharing the same designs as in the first two, for an overall effect of "Bay-lite". You aren't going to have a badass director step in on the scene and save the day. When has that ever happend in a franchise when the original director leaves?

A lot of people really liked when Alfonso Curron did the third Harry Potter film, after Chris Columbus did the first two. :whatever:

yes because the studio sees transformers mega success as a result of the property and fine actors

ILM does about 3 movies a year(including TS) non of their cgi really win over the audience as bay lit TF seems to

in the end the success (and critiques) is bays vision of what would be just another genre property(see gi joe to see what a normal film makes), if they replace the director the studio won't let him change much

i'm sure someone could make it a little more character driven tho

ILM's CGI is always great, but it's not always front and center like it is in the Transformers (or Star Wars) movies. When the entire movie centers around giant robots, that CGI had better be unrivaled or the whole thing collapses.

point being, other films where it's supposed to be front and centre fail often, whereas in TF it's never ever questioned

it's infact often stated as the best ever

Because it is the best ever considering how complex the designs are and how smoothly it all moves.

I wonder how many of them were just "sick" after seeing ROTF. :cwink:

And as I expected, the argument in defense of ROTF has now come down to money, as if big opening week boxoffice somehow validates all the inept, sloppy filmmaking that is so painfully obvious in this movie.

So let's review some past high-dollar blockbusters and gauge their quality:

Shrek 3 : $323 mil US
The Matrix Reloaded: $282 mil US
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: $317 mil US
Meet the Fockers : $279 mil US
How the Grinch Stole Christmas : $260 mil US
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End : $309 mil US

and of course...

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace : $431 mil US

Yep, nothing but great film specimens there! :woot:

I didn't read the topic in its entirety, but I could've sworn that all Bay said was that he was taking a year off of TF. So instead of starting to work on it this fall (For the 2nd movie, he started working on it in the fall after the 1st released), he's going to start working on it next fall.

I totally get that, after 2 movies, he must want to try something new.
Besides, he usually does say crap all the time (How many times did he say he didn't want to work on a 2nd movie, yet he did? Pff...)

lol Box office doesn't necessarily equal quality, it equals enjoyment. If nobody enjoyed those movies, they wouldn't have made that much money. Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li, for example, had a grand total of $12 million dollars for its entire run worldwide. That's because it had 0 enjoyment and 0 quality (and I did see it...ugh).
