While I'm not a huge Bay fan, I'd prefer that whatever films are to come in the future should remain his, though it would be interesting to see what another director would do with the movies.

Kind of weird knowing that Michael Bay won't be back for the third film. I really hope Paramount picks a competent director to replace him. I enjoyed what he had to offer its a shame that he actually takes into consideration of what the critics think of him.

No, they aren't. Go look at some of the other Mobile Suit designs throughout the years. You'll see that they are worlds apart.

Gundam has been around since '79 and the first Transformers toys had repainted Macross figures in the line. So there are inevitable visual similarities, but mostly because Hasbro wasn't very that interested in originality.

I'm far from Bay's biggest admirer, but I'm fine with him directing Transformers 3. At this point, it's too late to change the tone/approach and Roland Emmerich is the closest to Bay you'll get. It'd be better if he finished his film trilogy before calling it quits.

This admittedly made me laugh pretty hard (in a good way) and this is coming from someone who is looking forward to the movie.

Also don't cheer to early, it looks like the originator of the report misconstrued what Bay had to say.

It makes sense that Bay knew that seeing him talk would give depth to the character. It makes no sense wanting him to wear his face plate 24/7 and it makes no sense to come up with hypothetical what ifs. I understand the choice behind the design and it is easy to see that choice. Making a character more human was the goal because that makes these robots relate able to the audience.

I didn't ask about what you felt about it or the purpose of it...

Did I ever say that G1 wasn't popular with "the kids"? No.

I only stated that the "Transformers" as a series picked up in storytelling and character development when "Beast Wars" hit the airwaves. This isn't a matter of opinion but something gladly admitted by fans of the TF franchise. The writers were just better than the one's working back in the 80's on 30 minute promo ads for Hasbro. Sorry to break it to you.

no u missed my approach...that's your personnal opinion (along with others) i'm sure there are plenty of people who prefer the G1 series storytelling over other series...you guys come in here and make generalization not realizing how many people or fans they truly are...not putting down any other genre of TF's..but your fans of the "beast wars" ok cool..don't u think "G1" fans wouldn't think different..i mean seriously..u guys kill me on here...

I already said that I was skeptical about Bay leaving TF3, and I was right. Before TF, Bay's movies weren't doing that well, and this franchise really resuscitate his career. If TF3 turns out to be a blockbuster, I'm sure he'll contemplate making a 4th as well.

I'm skeptical that he'd want to stay on for a fourth movie. I think most high-profile directors have one good trilogy in them, but after they get it out of them they usually try to diversify their work. I think once Bay has done Transformers 3, he'll probably want to do something new and original. If they must continue making Transformers movies after TF3, I'd say the franchise should have a break for about 5 years, and then they can come back and do a "next generation" type movie with a new direction and mostly new cast and crew.
