Michael Bay Producing "Dora The Explorer" Movie

I know these type of films are meant for kids but for crying out loud why does everyone overact like buffoons in these type of movies these days? Stop treating kids like idiots for crying out loud.

This is the best Hollywood could do for some Latino representation? Oh man WB, hurry up with that Blue Beetle film please!

Anyway, looks like a kids movie. No idea how it'll do, but there is an entire generation of kids (well now teens/young adults) who grew up with the show. I'll check it out, if it gets good reviews.

PS: How long until comic fans start casting Isabela (Dora) and Jeffrey (Diego) for every Latino superhero at DC and Marvel?

This looks like something that would be released on the Nickelodeon channel. Not in theaters. Also, why did they turn Dora into a weapon and bomb hoarding nut?

I wonder if they got the idea for this film from the CollegeHumor spoof?

is her stunt double a man or a very muscular stunt woman?

This looks horrible. Very surprised something like this is getting a theatrical release considering how cheap it looks.

You guys are acting like you expected quality from this. I'd laugh, but it'd feel like it was kicking a puppy who didn't know any better, so i won't.
That's how I feel about the live action Sonic movie thread.

LOL so stupid, yet actually looks fun!
I like the underlying premise; she's at home and safe in the jungle, high-school is the real danger -LOL!

And 10 sec. in I'm already used to her being older than in the cartoon, it just quickly becomes a non issue.

Should we assume the Go DieGo spin-off?

I gots some thoughts...
  1. The promotional poster says "Explorer is her middle name", but we've never learned what Dora's last name actually is. (I should know; I grew up watching this show.)
  2. If I were Latinx, I'd feel kinda slighted by this. In this new wave of high profile tentpole films with majority "ethnic" casting (Black Panther, Crazy Rich Asians, sorta-kinda Aladdin), I don't know how I'd feel about having this version of Dora being our representative on this front.
  3. This movie looks like a lazy parody of the College Humor parody.
  4. I'll admit that I laughed at the knife joke, although I'm not sure if it was an intentional riff on the stereotype (that being that Latinas are always wielding knives and will cut a bi---) or if the movie is just naive enough to think it's funny because shock value, big knife.
  5. With Danny Trejo as Boots (I see no boots on that monkey), I almost have to see this movie on principal alone, but I will not be paying for it.

It doesn’t look too good but I like how energetic the actress playing Dora seems to be with her performance. There’s a bit of a goofy charm to it. And of course, Danny Trejo .

Finally watched the trailer. It looks alright.

I hope this is Jumanji 2 redux where the trailers undersell the potential of the final movie.

It looks a lot cheaper than Jumanji 2.

It's not really all that surprising that a live action movie based on a children's cartoon that ran on Nicklodeon & Nick Jr. looks like a Disney channel movie. I mean, look at the new Kim Possible movie or the Lizzie McGuire Movie from Disney. They look cheap as hell too.

Those aren’t going to theatres though. With Jerry Bruckheimer as their producer.

I honestly thought this was just a meme ... Until I saw the trailer in the movie theater this past weekend.

I don't know about you guys, but I can't freakin' wait for David Fincher's re-imagining of Blues Clues now.

I have to admit the new trailer played better on a large screen.

I had a coworker who kept insisting this will be amazing. I don't know if she said it because she thought it looked good or whether her daughter loved the series. :hmm
