Michael Bay Producing "Dora The Explorer" Movie

Damn. That doesn't look like Boots at all. It looks just like a regular monkey. He's not even the correct colour and doesn't have those tufts of hair coming out of his head.

And other than the vaguely similar hairstyle, I don't know if Dora looks all that Hispanic.

That's Ariel Winter as Dora.

That's not the real trailer then obviously. Otherwise if it is, it looks like crap and very cheap. I thought the pic on the previous page was a film still though as I didn't know about this trailer.

That trailer is from a spoof movie (??) that came out in 2012 and it has nothing to do with this movie. I was surprised that you thought it was real.

Isabela Moner is playing Dora in this movie and this is the first look at her in character

I didn't think the trailer was real when watching it for the first time earlier. But I thought the still from it was because I didn't know of the existence of this trailer and simply thought it was a newly released film still.

Isabela Moner looks more suitable and like an actual Hispanic.

Just gonna off-hand chime in and say that anybody can "look Hispanic", since the term Hispanic is a language-based grouping of people, i.e., people who speak Spanish or are from primarily Spanish-speaking countries. Folks from the Philippines could be described as Hispanic given their centuries-long history of being colonized by Spain and Spanish being the lingua franca during that time (a practice which still exists somewhat, albeit to a lesser degree). "Latino/a/x" would be the more specific term since it's more of an ethno-geographic grouping that applies to populations specifically in Latin America; hence why Brazilians are considered Latino/a/x even though they speak Portuguese.

Either way, the character of Dora as drawn always gave me a more "mestizo" vibe than Moner appears. Not that I care all that much about the movie or anything, just noting a touch of the "let's cast the lightest person we can get away with for this while still looking 'ethnic'."

Why does Dora have boobs? They couldn't go younger, like 12 or so?

Either way, I don't give a ****. The movie will probably be a disaster, another property given some bull**** life-action treatment

I have no idea what "mestizo" means. Please explain.

If Latino is the correct term, then that's what I mean.

Roughly speaking, "mestizo" generally refers to non-white Spanish-speaking people of Amerindian/Native American descent (at least in Central and South America), usually accounting for people with some degree of mixed ethnic background (i.e., European and/or African along with indigenous ancestry). Specific terminology and definitions change depending on the time period and country since there are different demographics and a lot of variance (and a lot of terms that apply to different combinations within said variance) but that's more or less a broad definition.

Point being, given what Dora and her parents look like, I'd expect a less European-looking actress to portray her than they've presumably casted. Granted, Moner is half Peruvian (although that's as ethnically specific as saying someone's half American) and apparently identifies strongly with that side of her heritage, so the execs are probably hanging their hat on that to levy against any whitewashing hashtag movements.

There was a spinoff series where Dora was in her mid-teens. (Apparently the pilot episode had her going to see a Shakira concert, because of course it did.)

This has the potential to be so bad that it's so, so good.
Truth be told, I've never seen Dora, I'm not sure if it even aired here in Serbia, but if it did I was a bit outside of it's target audience. But Micheal Bay being involved with this in any capacity, is just inconceivable.

Collider is saying that the actor who was cast as Diego has been replaced by Jeffrey Wahlberg.

The previous actor was fired from the job RUMOR: Dora The Explorer - Micke Moreno Back In US After Incident Of On-Set Romance With Isabela Moner

Paramount Player’s Dora The Explorer Movie currently in production in Village Roadshow Studios, Queensland, Australia seems to be caught in a controversial moment following an on-set romance between two lead stars. According to a new report coming from Goldcoast Bulletin, the film’s main star Isabella Moner, 17, who plays as Dora is rumored to have been caught in an on-set romance with actor Micke Moreno, 20, who plays as Dora’s cousin Diego. Following the incidents, it seems to have resulted in Moreno returning to the US. It seems like Moreno has been fired from the project though it hasn’t been confirmed yet. If so, it would lead to the studio searching for another actor to recast and potentially extensive reshoots of scenes involving Moreno. It would not only be a publicity disaster but also lead to an issue budget wise. The movie is expected to wrap production in November. It’s currently unknown if this could lead to a delay in the wrap up.

I was about get ready for the outcry when I found out his mom is Dominican. So he passes by a loophole, haha.

Why was he fired for having on-set romance? Doesn’t that happen all the time? Or assume her being 17 has something to do with it.

Yeah, there has to be more to the story.

That could be it but the age of consent in Australia is 16 so who knows what went down...

Will this have giant machine crane testicles?

The old Nick Jr. show has gotten a reputation of being the equivalent of "LOOK AT THE SCREEN, YOU DUMB KIDS! LOOK AT WHERE WE'RE POINTING AT THE SCREEN! THAT'S YOUR ANSWER! YOU'RE STUPID, YOU DUMB KIDS!". As shows like Blues Clues and films from people like Disney, Pixar and even the genius duo of Phil Lord and Chris Miller (P.S. Into The Spider-Verse was INCREDIBLE) prove, children can understand and pick up from things and don't to be told "Look at this". You can be silly all you want, but if you also give time for quiet moments and let children process information for themselves, they can learn something while they're having fun. That's why Blue Clues was so beloved back in the day: it gave children watching plenty of time to find the answer for themselves before telling them. Dora just spelled it out for them while being loud and obnoxious (from what little I remember back when it first started).

How do you take that and change-focus to make it a Indiana Jones-type adventure movie (they've apparently made Dora a much older, teenage character for the movie, btw; there's photos) for the YA crowd (obviously out of response to how good The Maze Runner movies were, i guess)? You just can't. Again, that crowd DOESN'T CARE about Dora. AT ALL. This is a dumb idea that's gonna backfire "Oh, but we just cast Benicio del Toro as the voice of Swiper the fox!" So? That doesn't make things interesting, that's just more fuel to say I don't care (Del Toro's a good actor, but this is just a paycheck for him this time). Stuff like TMNT or Lego's is more universal, so those appealing to the older crowd makes more sense. Dora only had ONE kind of fanbase: preschoolers. She's not Carmen Sandiego, FFS. And don't tell me the "irony" crowd would want to see it judging from the above comment; it's not worth it, guys.

Paramount, Nickelodeon, just don't bother. This is dumb and a waste of money and you know it. The original show's been dead for YEARS and no one wants it back. If my point hasn't been clear by this point, let me make it clear now: NOBODY wants a Dora the Explorer movie, PG/PG-13 or otherwise. Nobody even CARES about Dora the Explorer AT ALL. We don't want this property back in any form. You could've made one 15 years ago when it was still popular to the targeted crowd, but you didn't! So why now? LET IT DIE. End of story.
