Transformers Michael Bays Says No to Transformers 2?

Until they announce a new director, nothing's confirmed. Money talks, and if they want him bad enough, they'll pay him

Or, they'll just give him the darned movie on Blu-Ray. :o

This is what happens when CEOs have moronic secret meetings where descisions are made without telling anyone in advance. It's like the Dubay port scandal on a small, far less important scale. :o

ummm... You guys read this right?

Last night at dinner I was having dinner with three blu-ray owners, they were pissed about no Transformers Blu-ray and I drank the kool aid hook line and sinker. So at 1:30 in the morning I posted - nothing good ever comes out of early am posts mind you - I over reacted. I heard where Paramount is coming from and the future of HD and players that will be close to the $200 mark which is the magic number. I like what I heard.

As a director, I'm all about people seeing films in the best quality possible, and I saw and heard firsthand people upset about a corporate decision.

So today I saw 300 on HD, it rocks!

So I think I might be back on to do Transformers 2!

Michael Bay

The HD DVD version of 300 has the same quality the Blu-Ray version has plus it has extra features the Blu-Ray version doesnt have.

OH I HOPE ITS TRUE!!! No Michael Bay means we might get a Transformers movie about oh I don't know TRANSFORMERS instead Shia and pointless military characters :trans:

No Bay doing Transformers 2?! ****ING AWESOME! Best news ever!

For a Film Maker, I think Bay is a Hero to all other Directors.

Why?

The joke about Hollywood has always been they can manipulate the film and pull strings to how they want a picture to be released. They have the power (studio) so its there way or the highway in many scenarios.
Its great to see a director for even a short period stick to his principals about how a film should come out.
In reality its the SONY corporation that is moving in to monopolize the market.

Frankly even though Ive heard tidbits here and there I really dont think the average consumers knows the difference bwtn HD and BluRay formats.
As a consumer I choose not to buy either until there becomes a solid winner, because in theory u would need both players if movies go exclusively to one format or the other. In this pinning match i think sales will be hindered all around.

SO good job Bay for sticking to some principals

As for the rest of us, dont place ur bets on BluRay or HD quite yet.
Just like an new technology its expensive at the get go and without knowing which of ur movies will actually be made for ur perfered player format, its a bad investment.

I'm glad to hear that Michael Bay has come to his senses and won't drop out of directing TF2 over this. But that doesn't change the fact that he was right to be upset over Paramount making such a dumbass decision without giving anyone a heads up about it. This is what happens when you have a room full of dumb corporate monkeys calling all the shots with no accountability or input from anyone but themselves. I hope that Bay still gives Paramount an earfull of what needs to be said, because there are a lot of other directors doing the same. They pissed off a lot more people than just the customers.

Oh well. In 18 months the deal is off and Paramount goes back to making Blu-Rays. It's a VERY long wait for me, but Transformers 2 will likely be in production by then, so the Blu-Ray for the original TF will likely be on the way as well... Unless pressure from Spielberg and Bay causes it to come sooner.

He didn't stand up for you, he stood up for your money. :oldrazz:

Better Quality, little more expensive.

If we could just get that to be the new standard then the price can go down... instead we have this....

Blue-ray is clearly better. clearly.

A Spielberg sequel... man, that would be awesome...

Yeah....I would love that too. But something tells me it wouldnt be quite as kickass, as it would be a little too deep for Transformers. Noting against Steven, he's my second favorite director behind Martin Scorsese, but somethingn tells me that the sheer ass-kickery of Transformers would get a little bogged down with a director as good as Spielberg behind the camera. Keep it light and easy, so keep it Bay, that where I stand.

Meh i hope HD DVD wins so Sony can take a hit to its enormous ego.

They're trying to cut their losses from the slag that was the PS3, as well a wage another stupid war like the Beta vs. VHS war they waged many years ago. Hehe, Toshiba kicked their asses back then. Toshiba seems more consumer friendly to me as they like you to be able to do everything with one device. That my kind of player. :word:

the action in transformers was freakin great in fact the movie was prertty good, but they shoulve calmed down with some of the comedy. all of it wasnt neccesary. i did like some of it but it got tiring. it was like action scene, comedy, action scene, comedy. but yet it was still good.
