Homecoming Michael Giacchino is the Composer for Spider-Man: Homecoming

Gotta say that suite left me pretty neutral - nothing especially bad about it, nothing especially great either. Definitely one of the less memorable Spider-Man motifs out there.

I remember Horner's theme leaving an immediate impression on me and even Hans Zimmer managed to write a pretty good motif for ASM2.

There's a serious lack of clear and memorable main themes in the MCU. Iron Man 3, The Avengers (luckily) and especially TFA had great main themes, though. Silvestri is a blessing.

idk how to feel about this theme.
Listened to it quite a bit and its growing on me but i think its missing more of that "HEROIC" feel that Elfman, Horner and Zimmer had.
Maybe when i listen to the whole soundtrack i'll like it more, happened to me with Zimmer, only listened to the trumpet version of the theme and i was iffy on it but the different variations of it throught the movie made me love it, and i really like a lot of Giacchino's work so that's bumming me out.

I wonder if Marvel purposefully asked him to make it generic to fit with other MCU scores because this does not gell with Giacchino's previous works. They're usually awesome & in many cases, very memorable. I really thought were getting something special for Spidey when he revealed that 60s theme snippet.

That is exactly my take about it too. I adore Giacchino. His work is perhaps the biggest reason why Lost is my favorite tv-show. And his Doctor Strange was great too, even if he revisited some previous ideas. This is subpar.

Now I can relate to you guys when something in this movie disappoints me, lol.

Well I listened it a few more times and managed to get it stuck on my head. So it is definitely hummable. I have hard time connecting the tone to Spider-Man, but if it fits well in the movie, I just might have to retract my disappointment.

The more I listen to it the more I'm warming to it. They have to actually keep the theme for people to find it recognisable, I think that's a major reason why so many people claim the MCU has forgettable music, they never usually bring back themes.

The Avengers theme, the whole of Age of Ultron I was waiting for the first film's theme to play and it's there......at the end credits..... (btw I like AoU's end credit theme).

Meh, the strongest theme in this
franchise is still Captain America's. Iron Man's
is a very close second. I don't think they'll ever top
those two, so I don't even have high expectations.

Yeah, I'm warming up to the new theme as well. I also liked his Doctor Strange theme.

Silvestri did the first Avengers movie and used the Cap theme. He's doing Infinity War so maybe he'll bring it back.

That's not totally true because Alan Silversti's Captain America theme, which a variation of it became the theme for the Avengers, is pretty good. But yes, out of all of them, everything is bland. Though I think Thor 1's score is incredibly underrated.

It feels like it's building up to something..then just sorta fizzles. Just come up with a melody like Michael's work on The Incredibles..just several notes that hits the audience, and bam.

It seems like he's running out of steam or something..

Honestly I think that's what happened, I think Marvel knew almost exactly what they wanted the score to sound like before Giacchino was even hired. Maybe the rest of the score will change my mind, but Giacchino was something I was looking forward to, and this just doesn't sound like him at all, his work on Lost, Star Trek, the Incredibles, and even Rogue One contained pieces that stuck with me instantly. I only had to hear his Star Trek and Incredibles themes once to remember them, this Spidey score on the other hand sounds like it could easily be applied almost any other superhero, I forget about it almost as soon as I finish listening.

Micheal Giancchino has taken a lot of projects on, there was an interview with him not too long ago when he was just starting to record Homecoming's soundtrack and he said that when they just finished Rogue One he had to almost immediately get started on Doctor Strange and when he's done with Homecoming he has to start on War for the planet of the apes.

I worry that he may be doing too much.

At the same time though, I do believe Marvel Studios told him how they wanted Homecoming to sound which is probably why it sounds like a lot of other Marvel movies.

I haven't heard any of the score yet for Spider-Man:Homecoming, but when Giacchino signed on I was concerned that he might burn himself out after scoring blockbuster after blockbuster. Regardless it still hasn't lowered my excitement of the score.

While I do like this, it does sound very much fan made. While not necessarily a bad thing, it does clash with what the movie is portraying itself to be, where as Giacchino's (from what we've heard) does compliment it very well.

I do however like the use of the 60's Spider-Man theme at 2:30, sounds like a really cool battle cue, as if it's just about the end of the fight and we're seeing Spider-Man win.

The suite didn't really leave an impression on me, I'll have to wait until I listen to the whole album a couple of times before I make a full assessment. It's probably grow on me over time. I'm a huge Giacchino fan and he was my top choice for taking over scoring the film, so I hope it's great. His Star Trek theme is easily one of the best theme's to come out of the last 20 years or so.

The new theme is alright. I dunno, Giacchino's work often just doesn't do much to excite me.

Elfman's theme is still tops IMO. Underappreciated at the time, but it's held up as a classic of the genre me. Didn't care much for Horner's theme. I actually did enjoy Zimmer's ASM-2 music, despite the dubstep and Olympic-style fanfare. There's some cool stuff in there. I enjoyed the inclusion of some guitars and rock influence on that score.
