New McCaskill for Missouri TV ad featuring actor Michael J. Fox talking about Claire McCaskill and stem cell research.

The interesting thing about this thing is that Fox makes no effort to hide the effects of his disease.

Yeah, why shouldn't he show what it's all about for him?

Can you imagine if the GOP done this? Haha, there would be crying all over this board.

So Michael J. Fox is infaliable?

There is no question beyond the shadow of a doubt that he could be acting?

Well, I think that saying that Michael J. Fox is acting all "parkinsony" is like saying that Christopher Reeve was acting crippled when he campaigned for the same cause.

You said in your first post that it looks as though he's not making an effort to hide his disease...

But I get it, throw out the infalibility card, he's sick, so no one can question his authenticity (even though you said yourself that it appears he's not trying to hide it, which must mean he's doing it for sympathy, and IMO, if he can do that with a clear conscience, then he could just as easily "act" parkinsony- after all he is an actor).

Sorry, I hate it for him, I love Michael J. Fox, but anytime ANYONE enters the political arena even for a cause that makes them SUFFER, they shouldn't be given the absolute benefit of the doubt. I just whonder if he would be this adament about stem cell funding if he were not afflicted with that disease, and I'm not saying he doesn't have the right to want to be cured or just because he didn't campaign for it while he was well, but if I were a Missorinite (???) I wouldn't let this ad sway my vote one way or the other.

I said that Fox made no effort to hide the effects of his disease because that's what he has done during the past years, of course it's not like he can't just act like he doesn't have parkinson's, he has to take drugs for that and it's taking a huge toll on his body and mind.

But there's little way too prove he's acting so bringing it up is irresponsible slander.

You can repair any organ in the body with stem cells. Stem cells are blank slate cells that can copy any other cell in our body. The medical breakthroughs that stem cells offer are incredibly huge.

Limbaugh is a worthless son of a *****. my little sister could die at any time without a moment's notice because of her diabetes. you think she likes getting stuck with needles all day?

Within Bush's liftime and Libaugh's and Tom Delay's they will get old and require some type of treatment that will be made available through embryonic stem cell research.

you think they will take it? you think they will benefit from that which they denied to millions of people? Would they deserve to benefit from it? the answers are yeah, yeah, and NO!

what would be the point of hiding the effects of his disease in an ad designed to show you that he is suffering? the ad directly relates to the disease. wouldn't it defeat the purpose to hide the effects? the point was to show you the effects so you know what he's going through. If he hid the effects then voters would go "oh it's not that bad. it's not like he's suffering"

I say he was brave to make that ad, and it's hard enough not to cry watching it, let alone attack the man.

The fact of the matter is this. In this situation why SHOULD he try to hide it? When hes filming his rare TV show and movie appearances he has to try to hide it. For this, it should be out in the open. I have an uncle who died of both Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. That man touched my life in more ways than anyone I've ever known. I miss him dearly, and to think of the pain he went through in his last years, I cry. He was the smartest man I've ever known, and to have seen him lose that, it was not only disheartening but terrifying. If stem-cell research is able to help eradicate these diseases, I'm all for it.

that's why I hate this when the voting season.

The pointing game gets played out, but people still buy it. And it's not like Rush is the most honest person on earth. I mean, who is, but his stuff always get public so I don't know if he has any weight to his argument.

I like how he says "MissourUH" like local Missourians. Missourianites. Missouruhns. Mississippi.

I can sympathize with Michael J. Fox, though. We both suffer from the same affliction.

Acting fever

Why the hell would he want to waste his time you dork?
He is not acting.

Rush Limbaugh needs to shut the **** up. Michael J. Fox is ten times the man he is.

Umm, pretty sure Michael J Fox is on just as many pills as Rush, and Rush actually goes to work, something Michael J Lazy hasn't done in like, 7 or 8 years.

Your move, Harlekin. Try to bring a less flawed argument with you this time.

Adult stem cell research has more sucess than embryonic, so adult stem cell research is where the cures will come from.

About the only advancement made from embryonic research, is how to grow tumors.

this post is laughable...

How do you see that I believe he would be wasting his time campaigning for canidates he thinks will bring legislation that will help find a cure for parkinson's?

You might want to check out Wikipedia's list of MJF's recent projects. He's had projects ( books, TV, movies ) going on in all of the last 8 years. You might not like his politics but he's not lazy.
As for Rush, he's funny and often makes valid points but when he steps in mud, he really steps in it. He could have just accused the Pro stem cell people of emotional baiting without making it a personal issue w/ Fox. Yet, he chose the low road.

I dont understand what The F everyone is talking about.

the man has the disease.

he has the strong drive to help people and himself.

let him do it. Christopher reeves pushed himself hard to help others and himself.

maybe actors have more of that drive to get things acomplished becuase many of them had started with nothing.
