MICHAEL KEATON RETURNS (or at least in discussion) AS BATMAN

In 90s they were considered as canon (Batman 5 meant to bring back Joker's Nicholson and old villains in flashback..) but seems they're not canon anymore now, as we see in CW elseworlds, Flash 2022

They ARE still canon--insomuch as the Burton films are canon to the Schumacher films. All they're technically doing is branching the timeline off in The Flash, so now we're seeing a timeline where Forever/& Robin didn't happen.

Batman ‘89 and Batman Returns happened, and then the Flash traveled to Keatons universe, and messed up the timeline. Now, Batman 89 and Returns didn’t happen the same way, and in the new timeline, Keaton has always been the Batman in the DCEU, while JK Simmons has always been Gordon.

Before all this DCEU timeline nonsense, were the Schumacher films sequels to the Burton films? Like are the Kilmer and Clooney Batmen the same as Keaton? Are they now going to say that Schumacher films are a different universe as the Burton films?

They were originally, but as of the Flash movie BF and B&R are a different timeline. Those events never happened to Keaton's Batman (who originally was meant to be the same Batman as Kilmer's and Clooney's).

The Schumacher films never fit in with the Burton films anyway. All they're doing now is acknowledging the mind-numbingly obvious.

As far as any reasonable person is concerned, they never were.

Eh, that is rather unfair to Forever. I can see how they would *want* to decanonize it from this timeline, for the sake of freeing them up to have their own version of Robin, but acting like its a quantum leap of lower quality than the first two films is unjustified.

I like Batman Forever. Not up there with the first two, but certainly not down there with Batman & Robin. And I think Kilmer was a really good Batman and Bruce Wayne. Also, no-one has ever looked better in the suit.

I feel like this film will keep Forever and B&R in canon, but they’ll probably be divergent timelines resulting from whatever Barry gets up to here. Just a hunch.

Batman Forever is cheesy as hell but I have a soft spot for it. I enjoyed Val Kilmer’s performance and actually liked the relationship he built up with Dick

Both Riddler and Two-Face were playing totally cartoonish characters but they had their funny moments

Also, the movie had a killer soundtrack and embraced everything that was great about the 90s

Batman Forever came out when I was 9 years old and I absolutely loved it, I even had the cups from McDonald’s and everything. I still think it’s pretty good.
Same same, it was peak Hollywood movie magic for me; the tie in products, the songs on the radio, it felt like that summer was all about batman - never really experienced that since, but it was the perfect timing.

I see it as Batman/Returns happened - then Barry shows up and changes things, so that it never happened and instead he's in the 'dceu' with a younger Jim Gordon (flash back scenes in batgirl) and then instead of the BvS time lines, we get batgirl instead which I am fine with.

I like to think BF and B&R are in their own time lines and merged too... so maybe hints of those movies happened in this batman's past.

Keaton's suit supposedly leaked so heads up.

Hmmmm... not on DCEUleaks or Batman subreddits. Nevermind; found it on Twitter.

It's just the one we saw from set... was hoping it was the Kingdom Come suit, that was rumored.

They really ruined his jaw line.

I'm inclined to believe the suit that was 'leaked' was a fake. The base of the image looks to be from Batman Begins mixed with some shots of the TDK suit from a gallery. batsuitcomparison.png

It looks like the alterations made were simply based on the leaks we've seen from the set, but I certainly don't believe this is official at all. The giveaway here is the color of the symbol itself, it's washed out, plus look at how soft the edges of the gauntlets & the ears are, that's a sign it was edited/photoshopped in there from another source.

The suit looks great, but I modified the mouth opening and also gave him a yellow belt.
What do you think?

Keaton is by far my favourite live action Batman and I am so excited to see him again on screen, but it really hasn’t hit me yet. Even seeing that photo I’m just like, “cool but *shrug*”. Almost like I’m just looking at a photoshopped image someone made. It probably won’t hit me until we see actual footage of Keaton as Bruce/Batman. I’m hoping that happens soon. With the Ezra debacle, they need to keep up the hype for this film.

Tbh, ever since I first saw this new image, it's never really looked/felt like Keaton in the suit to me. Though I'm aware it obviously is him. But it feels unnatural somehow. As with Matt though, I can't wait to actually see some footage of him in the suit again. That will be a good day, I'm sure.

With the Batgirl set photos leaking, this costume photo leaking, and now all the bad press surrounding Ezra, I really don’t understand why they haven’t officially released anything involving Keaton’s Batman. They must know that he is the main draw, so keep people hyped! I can’t believe it’s already been what? Over a month or two since those set photos leaked and they still haven’t released anything official.

There's no rush. They're still giving The Batman its time for the spotlight, then the next movie up is Black Adam.

Flash is a year away.

I think there is somewhat of a rush when the only news surrounding your films star is bad press after bad press. I get that there is still a long time until the film is released, but I think they need to do something soon to kind of take the spotlight off of Ezra’s two arrests.

Sure, maybe right now since The Batman is still fresh, is not the best time to reveal anything, but I do hope they release something soon.
