Mighty Avengers returns in Infinity.

I've heard good things about that mini. I'll have to check it out at some point. How many issues is it?

And didn't he have some story or series of stories in an anthology over the past few years?

ADAM: LEGEND OF THE BLUE MARVEL ran 5 issues from 2008-2009. It had the error of having a creative team who weren't big names introducing a new character in the middle of a crossover event without being attached to it without any promotion and, I believe, a $3.99 an issue cover price. Sales sank like a stone, to the surprise of nobody except people in Marvel marketing. Remember, this was during SECRET INVASION, and books not even loosely attached to it rarely did well.

The character popped up in two anthologies after the HEROIC AGE era, AGE OF HEROES #3 (2010) and FEAR ITSELF: THE HOME FRONT #4. All these stories were written by his creator, "UNDERWORLD" producer/writer/actor Kevin Grevioux, who is (sadly) better known by Marvel fans for his awkward NEW WARRIORS run. MIGHTY AVENGERS #2 is the first time the character's been written by someone else.

I've always found him cool, and am glad to see Blue Marvel fly again.

I've always liked the idea of the supremely powered forgotten hero. Jenkins handled it superbly in his Sentry mini (one of the best stories I've ever read), so that draws me to the Blue Marvel.

And I really liked that New Warriors run

I thought the Sentry mini was superb, but, for me an even better one was Truth: Red, White and Black. It knocked me for a loop.

The art kept me from trying that one. It was too cartoonish for me.

I like the idea of the Blue Marvel, sadly they way hes been introduced it seems he was made up just to get a Thor/Hulk tier black character in the mix, and I would have preferred if they just boosted Luke Cage power level somehow, I prefer my world destroying tier heroes with a little more actual history.

I was a little turned off on Blue Marvel initially because it just felt like they were trying to recreate the Sentry, which was done superbly to begin with (though Bendis never could recapture what made him great). Nowadays I wouldn't mind giving him a shot. Plus, I've always liked the idea of older heroes.

The Blue Marvel's only commonalities with the Sentry are the Superman analogue thing and the fact that they both disappeared. But while the Sentry was forced to disappear because he was too crazy, the Blue Marvel chose to disappear because he was naive and because his government asked him to. The world in the '60s wasn't ready for a black guy who could juggle planets. I like that Grevioux has him return in the present, wiser and no longer willing to hide who he is just to appease those in power, but no less optimistic and idealistic. Like I said, he's essentially a black Superman, but it works.

I really didn't like the Sentry on the team, for a time the comic was like, team finds bad guys, team cant handle bad guys, team gets beaten, sentry wakes up from self loathing briefly enough to dispatch bad guys, repeat. So long as blue marvel doesn't completely nullify his teammates, it should be okay, but only being a couple issues in its hard to say.

He's supposed to be right on the same level as Thor, Namor, the Hulk, etc., as opposed to the Sentry, who was clearly established as being way, way more powerful than all of them and had to be watered down considerably for his Mighty Avengers appearances. I doubt it'll be a problem.

Yeah, I saw that. It doesn't really excite me all that much. I was hoping for some loopy reason to have it be [blackout]Iron Fist[/blackout], but oh well.

I don't get why people see the Sentry as some kind of Superman analogue. He was a blatant ripoff of Marvelman. In fact, I firmly believe that Marvel killed off the Sentry was because they acquired Marvelman and everyone pretty much hated the Sentry.

Still enjoying this series. Looking forward to seeing Falcon get more into the action.

I just sold the first two issues of this series to Half Priced Books. I'm not really feeling it, though I miss Luke, but I might still pick up the Iron Fist guest star.

I hope that this series gets to be animated someday soon. I want this to become a hot property. There needs to be more outreach to urban-ethnic centered bookstores as well.

This. great idea. This book is actually pretty great.

I can safely avoid this, as I do anything with Land as artist.

I don't think so. Prodigy is busy with the Young Avengers right now.
