just curious how many people are or have been in the military. i think i've only encountered like two so far.

I feel bad that nobody has replied yet, so I will give you a pity post. :o

I've never actually been in the military so I really can't vote although I know a lot of people in the navy.

I'm not in the military, but most of my family is. My aunt met and married my uncle in the army, their son also joined the army, two cousins in the Marines, one in the Navy and I have an aunt in the CIA (doesn't really count but whatever).

I was in JROTC for one year when I was in high school. Does that count?

I'm currently in the Army. I know another poster is in the Air Force and several are veterans.

Then why didn't you say his name the first time! Besides, I outrank him, so let's say you really meant me and call it even.

I tried to join the Navy back in 2003, but my eyes kept me out. I've not bothered to try the other branches

Were your eyes afraid of water or did they just like... talk you out of it?

I've considered joining the Navy, but decided against it.

okay, so for the few who are in, what's your rank and mos/rating/afsc?

They gave me a line about "sphere/cylinder ratios" and how I was ".25 over their cutoff" or some other ******** since the chief medical officer at the MEPS station got that stuck up his ass.

Basically, I'm too near-sighted for the navy, even when I wear glasses or contacts.

Being disabled... not much chance of me joining the military any time soon...... But i know a few who have served......including a husband and wife who met when they crashed their tanks into each other (LOL) and my Grand-dad who served in the RAF during WWII (Though he sadly passed a few years ago.)... and my brother is considering joining the RAF

I served in the Army for 7 1/2 years as an EOD tech.

I signed a contract for eod specialist, but it fell through. :csad:

Going back to meps, for the third time, to sign another contract and this one should actually stick.

I joined in August of 2001 , U.S. Army Infantry. I was in for three years and a month , the month was due to being stop lossed in Iraq. I didn't like ti but I was a good soldier.
The only benefit was living in Europe. It was worth it to experience but some issues came from it as well.

My MOS is a 35F or Intelligence Analyst. Definately found the job rewarding when I was deployed; however, it can get pretty boring while here in the states. I've been in for 2 years this onth and am an E-4. Of that 2 years 1 year was deployed to Afghanistan. Got back about 4 months ago and now starting to train to go back.

Damn, that's the one I want but I can't get the clearance currently. Hopefully, I can get a three or four year contract, use the BEAR program and reup, reclass and retrain for 35F. Or any 35 really. But at least I get to go in as an E-3. :csad: :o

I was in the Marine Corps. Best Decision I ever made.

Next to reading the FairTax Book. :)
