Miracle at St. Anna

I saw the trailer for this film today. I thought it looked quite good actually.

Here is the trailer for the movie. It is so great and completely caught me off guard. Looks like it definitely will have elements of a mystery too!

They already calling this one of the best of the year. You can't go wrong with a good WWII flick, and I'd like to see what twists Spike puts in this one.

Ive seen mostly bad buzz about this movie which is too bad because Lee looke dlike he had a hit on his hand. I'll probably still check it out. It looks really good.

Reviews are low at 28% on Rotten Tomatoes. One reviewer called it an awful mess.

Pfftt...If it's over 25% on RT, then I'd say it's worth watching, but it's meant to be a precaution to keep expectations low...That is, unless you're the kind of moviegoer that only goes out to see masterpieces with flavor of the year names behind it.

But anyway, I was all set to see this movie today, and about 70% into the movie, the theater gets a power outage! The entire building! Right before the climax! I guess I'll have to watch the rest tomorrow or Sunday.

Yeah, the movie seems a little dragging and sloppy and areas, but it's definitely worth watching so far. The film stopped a few minutes after [blackout]the massacre at the St. Anna church[/blackout]. 7 out of 10 at that point.

Damn, I had really high hopes for this. Oh well, I'm seeing it Sunday anyway.

Normally RT doesnt make a difference to me if theres a movie I want to see, but when it comes to movies Im on the fence about I usually use it but only read the bad reviews, like for instance "Plenty of guns a violence but not much else." I always love those. All the bad reviews seemed to have the same thing to say. It has potential to be brilliant but it drags and keeps a slow pace. I may just have to save my money on this one unfortunately (tickets are expensive :csad:)

I don't go by RT as a definitive answer on whether I see a movie, I was just responding to the previous poster's bad buzz comment. Some of my favorite films have low RT scores(Vanilla Sky).

I read the best part of the film is the battle scene. On par with Saving Private Ryan...that was one good thing I read. Two of the negative things that continues to pop up is that the racism seems forced in some scenes, and the running time is longer then needed.

I'll probably see it, but wait till DVD.

I have a movie group scheduled to see it tomorrow. 5 yes and 12 maybe RSVP, so if history repeats I'll have two people show up.

Okay, so no one from my movie group showed. They're weak and dead to me.

Anyway, I thought it was a good story, some of the acting was a bit off and took me out of the moment for a bit. This was a lot of work for Spike and I think he pulled it off, I was emotionally moved in many ways.

It was a decent flick. Spike might have tried to fit too much into this one. Not mad that I went to see it, though.

Well, the script was originally written by the guy who wrote the book that the film is based on...

Me, personally, I have a high tolerance for long movies and it never really felt long to me. Sure, it dragged a few times, but I think for the most part, most of the scenes needed to be there for one reason or another.

I had/have no interest in this film mainly due to the fact that the trailer and commercials fail to get a point across about what the film is about. Sure you don't want to give away the plot all at once, but there wasn't enough of a jist to get me interested. Someone mind just spoiling this for me and tell me what the hell the main point is with the statue since I won't see this.

Also, is that fat soldier the chubby kid from Hook?

Just saw the movie yesterday and it was decent. The racism was way too forced in the movie but the ending really saves the movie. 7/10

I never made it to the end. The movie was oK.

The angles on the main Italian ladies' face could cut glass.

This movie sucked. Nothing but racial propaganda. What else do you expect from Spike Lee
