Missed Another One....

Synopsis:

Be Kind Rewind
Directed by Michel Gondry ('Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'), this comedy stars Jack Black as Jerry, whose plans to sabotage a power plant go awry. Now magnetized, he accidentally erases every tape at the video store where his friend Mike (Mos Def) works. But their most loyal customer -- an elderly woman whose mind is starting to slip -- still expects to see her favorite movies, so Jerry and Mike set out on the near-impossible task of re-creating every movie in the store.

How is that a movie people wanna see so much they put it in a top 20 list?

Sounds kinda dumb if you ask me and Nacho Libre was Nacho Dumb.:wow: :o

Yeah but all of his recent movies says it all. :csad:

"Holiday" was very good IMO....and he is very popular..."Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" was a critical success....those 2 things are enough to get it on the top 20 list...

Gee, the only ones I want to see from the list would be:

7. The Bourne Ultimatum
3. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
2. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
1. Spider-man 3

The rest, I would not even want to rent.
There's something wrong with the list.

Why should FF be on that list? The first one was a critical failure, and though it made good money at the box office, it was nowhere near a smash like the Spideys or Pirates.

The movies on that list are franchise that have either been successfully established or films that have franchise potential. There's also films that just look good on there, like Zodiac.

This sounds really cool, actually and will probably be awesome.

These are the true big films the others really could go any way. Some of those don't even deserve to be on that list.

I know alot of ppl are really anticipating 300 and it's looking like a big film of 2007. :yay:

I agree with your list but in mine i'm highlighting 300 and scratching off Evan almighty. :woot:

#14....2 words....Jack Black *rolls eyes*

:whatever:

So it's kinda like Scary movie/Epic movie/ Date movie meets Jack Black ..............................

Looks like F4 has missed another Big in 2007 list...

http://movies.aol.com/movie-photo-f...es-of-the-caribbean?ncid=AOLMOV00180000000003

17. Zodiac
16. Beowulf
15. The Nanny Diaries
14. Be Kind Rewind
13. Evan Almighty
12. American Gangster
11. Ratatouille
10. Knocked Up
9. The Simpsons Movie

1. Spider-man 3

OMG....THIS SUCKS....sorry I must be channeling an ex-forum member....:cwink:

Don't worry people.....F4 wasn't on their 2005 list either.....

But it was #13 Domestic and #11 Worldwide.....so what do they know....:whatever: :oldrazz:

This must be a joke. Knocked Up (such a classy title:dry: ) and The Nanny Diaries shouldn't even be on that list:down

Why not The NannyDiaries.....its a best selling novel??????

5 are major movie franchises.....most are 1st timers on the list...

F4 as just as much of a right to be on the list as many that are....its simply an opinion....your opinion is it shouldn't....some have the opinion that it should.....as I said in the first post......it wasn't on the 2005 list either and did quite well.....#13 Domestic....and #11 Worldwide is very good....whether critics liked it or not...that is quite respectable for a comic book that was not as well known to the kiddos as X-men and Spidey...

Do I think it should be on the list....sure .... as much as about 10 others on the list.....does it matter that its not.....no....its already proven that....:o :cwink: As far as franchise potential.....F4 has a sequel....whether you thought it was good or not.....it will probably have 3rd as well....and very likely a 4th....I believe that gives it franchise potential as well....

Didn't know that.:o Well i guess that changes things slightly. I just looked up some info and they've got quite a cast (Scarlett, Laura Linney, Paul Giamitti for this one so maybe moviefone are right about this one.

BTW i notice that I Am Legend doesn't feature on that list. Will Smith is one the biggest box office stars on the planet. Even his bad movies (Wild Wild West) make money.

Moviefone is kind of like that.....I think they just want their list to get alot of conversation going......they always have a very strange list each year....but it makes for good discussion....:woot:

I can't disagree with those top 3. POTC3, SM3, and Harry Potter thou. They will be the top 3 this year. It will a knock down drag out fight between Pirates, and Spider-Man 3 for top spot.

I wouldn't count out Shrek 3. The Shrek movies are extremely popular and i expect it do well also.

It will be right up there. I could see it 4th, mabey 3rd. I feel FF 2 will crack the top 10 this year. Here's hopeing. :woot: I'll go out on a thin wire and say top 4, POTC 3, SM 3, HP, Shrek 3 in that order. FF top 10 domestic, and WW. The 1st one did beyond what anyone thought it would. X-Men was 8th domestic, and 9th WW in 2000. And considering that FF as a franchise was not as well known as X-Men, it was even more astounding. Add to the fact that the top 10 in 2000 averaged $ 189.8 million domestic per movie. The top 10 in 2005 averaged $ 241.4 million domestic per movie. Competition was a lot stiffer in 05, then 00.

Do not want to make another thread, so I'll just add to this. MSN's top 10 movies to see in 07.

10. Charlie Wilson's War - Tom Hanks
9. Sweeney Todd - Johnny Depp
8. Grindhouse - Kurt Rusell
7. Transformers - Shia LaBEOUF
6. His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass - NICOLE KIDMAN
5. Shrek the Third
4. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - JOHNNY DEPP
3. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
2. Spider-Man 3
1. The Simpsons Movie

FF 2 Got 1st Honerable Mention. They seam to think The Simpsons will be the sleeper of the year, with so many families having watched it oner the last 18 years. And what the heck is the fasination with Transformers ? Where they all playing with their toy robots as kids ?

You're prediction might not be that far off but keep in mind that theres a few dark horses that will surprise people. No one last year expected movies like Devil Wears Prada and Step Up to be big hits for example.

BTW i just read that Epic Movie topped the box office.:(

Charlie Wilson's War has got Mike Nichols directing, Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks and Philip Seymour Hoffman starring (wow!). Sweeney Todd - Tim Burton with Depp and Sacha Baron Cohen starring. Would anyone bet on those not being hits?

Every year there are a few sleepers. In 05, nobody expected Wedding Crashers, and The 40 Year Old Virgin to do as well as they did. Those 2 films we're 2 of the reasons FF did not do as well, just like The Devil Wears Prada, kept Superman Returns from doing better. Add in 05 Charles And The Chocholate Factory, Batman Begins, ROTS, Cronicals, Harry Potter, WOTW, it was a very tough year for the FF to be introduced. So where they finished was great, considering the competition.

True i just hope that FF2 won't be snowed under by all the attention SM3, Shrek and POTC3 will (and already are) get(ting).

I agree....and unfortunately I think it will.....

I promise you that far fewer people are going to see GrindHouse and 300 than FF2. Maybe it's not a boxoffice list?

I would tend to agree. I think 300 looks intriguing but I don't think it'll out perform FF2.

Personally I thought some of the movies on that list looked wack at the Previews. But that's just me.

Sadly, FF2 does have a lot to prove--and I'm sorry but the former film's box office take alone is NOT a fair guage to say it "deserves" to be on this (or any other) list. FF1's word of mouth and the critical bashing no doubt is still in the minds of a lot of these writers. Some say that the only reason it raked in $330 million is because it "duped" audiences with impressive marketing. Whether that's true or not, FF2 has to overcome that perception.

We'll see.
