Mission: Impossible 3

I was surprisingly uncaptivated by this film. I don't know why, but I couldn't get into this movie enough to care a lot for its characters. The camera wasn't handled any worse than a Michael Bay film. Maybe it's from the special Bond films extravaganza now broadcasting on cable. Or maybe it's fact that I wasn't impressed by Cruise and the fast paced scenes. I did like Hoffman's performance. He was professional and merciless - a worthy bad guy. Ving Rhames was great as well, acting as Cruise's compadre, giving the usual advice about connecting with civilians. Maybe that was it - there wasn't anything said that hasn't been said before in other spy films, including "Ronin". Roger Moore said the whole 'deadly life of a spy' speech even better in "The Spy Who Loved Me". So Ethan Hunt wants to get married - whatever. I didn't see anything new.

It all comes down to taste I guess. Its a great way to spend an hour or so, no matter what reviews it gets.

IMO, best of the series. I now hope its not the last and that J.J can come back.

Honestly, I didn't expect MI3 to be so good movie. I loved it and Cruise looks better there than he was in WOTW.

People thought this movie would be dead in the water when it was 1st announced because the 2nd one was not that great. However now it seems that people are saying that's its the best in the series. I am going to go see it tonight after I get off of Work so I will let you know what I think of it.

What was the Helicopter chase like Mentok ? ive only seen glimpses of it in the trailer and is there a Bike scene in the film ?

BTW glad you liked it:up:

Since Mentok won't answer your question,

The little IMF chopper is being chased by a missile toting heavy artillery chopper. And they are doing it through a field of those giant energy wind fan things.

Thanks Vile, actually Mentok did answer me in PM's but i appreciate you answering :)

I would watch it in a heart beat. I need to see first the box-office results before I go and watch it.

How much money it makes decides if you go & see it or not  Thats a new one

I just came back from seeing it

It was alright, the plot was a little eh....so JJ takes a loss on that one

but the Stunts and Action scenes were  Top stuff!

I would say the opening sequence was good and intense

but I thought PSH was underused as a villan and his performance wasnt as good as people say, but that's only because I felt he wasnt used that much. He came off very one-Dimensional (all the characters kinda did) save for the opening/middle scene.

When Keri's got murked she looked messed up lol, what's up with the eye? lol

all in all 3.75/5

The outcome of the opening scene was very cheap and disappointing in my opinion.

Just got back from seeing a sneak peek myself, and it's the best of the series. You can definitely tell it's JJ's work, which in my opinion, was a good thing.

I thought it was a fun film that finally explored the IMF team. It also had a lot more "heart", which was good. Hunt was grounded more............overall, a fun time at the movies............

I don't think you'll be disappointed in the least Hunter........

It didn't explore the IMF team at all. They just had a bit more presence than the last 2.

Unless it involves Cruise they didn't really do jack. Meyers and Maggie Q are good, but they are simply one dimensional characters given virtually no development.

As for the action scenes, I'd say Abrams seems like he's graduated from the school of Michael Bay.

The reviews for this movie are so positive right now on RottenTomatoes that it tells me that... there's a good chance I won't like it.

Movies that critics largely love are almost universally movies that I hate.

I hope this is an exception.

It was a fast paced story with a mostly new supporting cast. How could the film really explore the characters? Establish who's good and bad - fight for the prize - get your reward. It's like an action video game.
