I actually remember how back when this whole Cruise/Holmes deal started, there was rumored to be some reluctance on the part of Brad Grey to greenlight MI:3. Seeing as to how the movie was easily going to have a ridiculously huge budget. Cruise as producer probably gets a big cut of the profits as well.

Maybe this is a sign Paramount needs to start making smarter investments in their future projects and seeing that throwing tons of money at these so called

"SURE THINGS"

are not always sure things.

They are already making great investment decisions. How can you go wrong when you dump Greengrass's Watchmen movie? (That was sarcasm by the way, towards Paramount not the Vile One).

Poseidon just may take it. I somewhat suspected something when the two showings I went to this weekend only had about half the seats taken. Usually these types of things are sold out.

Based off the weekday numbers, I don't think this will be the case.

Something we gotta keep in mind is the MI movies take about 60% of their BO from foreign markets, and this also seems to be the case with this one. If it manages to get back its production budget (150m) and make, say 250 m overseas, it will still pull at least a decent 400m. Still will be called a disappointment, given the hype, the high price tag, Cruise´s star power and the BO of the first two ones, both of which topped that number. I guess they´ll think twice before making a fourth one.
