Action-Adventure Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning/The Final Reckoning

Tom, please don't die making the next two movies. Let the stunt team do more for a change. Best of luck.

I'm a bit ambivalent about the news. I love McQuarrie's work and his Mission Impossible films. But I hope he doesn't get stagnant doing back to back sequels. Also hope they can come up with a good story for the next two.

I don't want two more movies of Ethan and Ilsa doing the will they/won't they thing either.

I don't know what to feel about this, I love this franchise but I didn't like Fallout as much as everyone else. McQuarrie is talented but he needs to edit his movies down, they could easily be much shorter. I also don't like his obsession with double crosses. Maybe put more effort in the script and characters this time instead of just the stunts.

Great to hear, and can't wait to see where McQ takes the franchise. It'd be amazing if all the surviving characters from previous MI movies came back, even if just as cameos. From characters like Kittredge as mentioned, and Max, and Nyah and Brandt. Heck, maybe even Anthony Hopkins' character from MI2. And I wouldn't mind a repeat of MI1's famous CIA break-in scene. IMO it's one of the best, most iconic scenes in the franchise.

McQuarrie back for 2 more missions.
Filming back to back, releasing in 2021 & 2022.
Wonder what they'll get Cruise to do this time? Or should that be, wonder what Cruise will talk them into letting him do?

Jesus. I hope they don't push their luck here but what the hell. McQaurrie deserves the faith at this point. He's earned it. Apart of me would like to see him do something else but goddamn I love these movies and seeing two more by this same team is enticing. McQuarrie is the one writer who wouldn't **** this up. At this point I feel more confident in him than getting a new director, as much as I'd be okay with that. It just goes to show the earned trust they've established.

I have only one question about this.
Will MI7 end with a cliffhanger?

I'd say there's a 50% chance that will happen

or the team gets together to take down the big bad.

Hunt- Your mission..should you choose to accept it....

McQuarrie reportedly turned down several DC films

Christopher McQuarrie Signs on for Two New 'Mission: Impossible' Movies

In the aftermath of Fallout, McQuarrie found himself courted by many studio suitors who were opening up their pantries for him. Warner Bros. even tried to seduce him with DC projects, but he decided to take a breather and stay true to his friend and partner, Cruise.

Back to Back films does make me think this could potentially be the finale for Mission Impossible. Cruise isn’t getting any younger and allowing the series to end on a high

Villain wise, I’d love to see go off kilter and cast someone like Tom Hanks or if they want a female villain, Angelina Jolie as mentioned would be great.

Cruise has directly said he doesn't have many more Mission Impossible outings in him. I can see these two movies being his last as Ethan Hunt as a lead in the franchise.

I would love to see former IMF agents return like Magie Q and Paula Patton. I also wouldn't mind seeing Fishburne return as IMF boss since Baldwin's character died.

More franchise connections like Max kids and Ethan's wife would also be cool.

A female being the main villain would be cool. Lots of actresses would love to play villains in big franchises like these. Rachel Weisz has said she would like to be a villain in her husband's Bond movies and Ruth Wilson said she would like to be a villain in Marvel movie after she turned down another role she was offered by Marvel.

Cruise Oblivion co-star Andrea Riseborough would be a good villain.

Can someone merge the two M:I 7 threads?

Ferguson is confirmed to come back. Not a total surprise but good to know. I imagine it's a matter of time before Pegg and Rhames confirms. But still hoping we get some other older team members too.

Ferguson, Pegg and Rhames obviously all need to be back and Bassett will hopefully show up again. I’d be fine with Renner returning too, and I’d love to see Patton come back. But I couldn’t care less about Maggie Q or John Rhys-Meyers; their characters are barely memorable to me. Also don’t need to see Fishburne or Hopkins again; those were obvious paycheck roles for those guys. I’m always down for more Thandie Newton though.

I just want the ladies back. Thandie, Maggie Q and Paula. Bring 'em all! Renner can remain benched.

Since Ferguson is coming back, I hope she and Ethan aren't staying ambiguous forever. If it turns into a Ross/Rachel thing, I'm going to get annoyed.

I imagine we will see Vanessa Kirby again.
