I agree that Social Services was completely at fault in not recognizing the possible dangers and should have been monitoring her closer. However I also blame her sister who should have not given that child back to her when she was experiencing an episode, even though she was "calmed" down. I am sure she was used to her like this but she should have just kept the child until the morning and contact social services to come and talk to her.

Although I do feel she should be held accountable in the sense that she should be kept in a mental facility for the remainder of her life. Someone that experiences that much psychiatric illness, as obviously shown, is a danger to themselves and others to have just roaming around in public.

If this woman was really that bad, so bad that she doesn't realize decapitating a baby and eatings it's brains is wrong, then she shouldn't even be allowed amongst the normal population...let alone have a child...with another mentally ill person.

Yeah social services is at fault, even though she went to a hospital and said that she was fine. All they have is her word cause they can't hear the voices either.

That being said i used to live 2 blocks from where this happened so its pretty crazy.

You took the words right out of my mouth, and I couldn't agree more. I think she should be put down because she's a danger even to other inmates in prison. I mean, it's not like she can get two swords and a knife to do someone in while in jail, but she still has HER TEETH. I mean, who'd want to share a cell with her...and wake up only to find she's gnawing off one of their toes. Oh hell no.

Many schizophrenics are like this. They have constant delusions and episodes of fear so he/she will either inflict pain on themselves or someone else, not realizing what has been done. It's a sever mental illness.

It's not the same thing as a sane person doing all this. Having no remorse, and rationalizing his/her actions are the works of a sociopath or Antisocial (Think Hannibal Lector).

This mother has a serious mental illness, but that still doesn't really excuse for what she did her to her infant son. I blame the social workers for not taking away the baby before it escalated to this tragedy. If she doesn't receive the capital punishment, she has to be locked away forever; she's a danger to the society if she can't even comprehend the severity of her crime.

Although I'm totally against all capital punishment, giving a person with a severe mental illness the death penalty is a horrid thing to do (in my mind).
Putting a person with severe schizophrenia to death for a crime committed during an episode is the same as giving the same to a mentally ******ed person. It's not only that they do not know what they did was wrong, sometimes they don't even realize that they did the act in the first place. Schizophrenic delusions completely change "reality" for the person suffering from one.

Lock her up, in a mental hospital/prison, for the rest of her life so she can get the treatment and supervision that she needs.
