Mom Protests Library's 'Sexual' Spider-Man Comic

But then how are you supposed to safe your 100 year old aunt from dying?
Perhaps she wouldn't be in this situation if I had remembered that my actions have repercussions, and that I shouldn't do stupid crap like tell all of my greatest enemies who I really am via media press conference. Perhaps I need to take responsibility for my actions, like I've been trying to do since my uncle died. Perhaps I also need to listen to the last words of my dieing aunt and just accept that maybe this is her time to go, and I should be by her side to ensure that the last thing she sees in her loved one as she drifts into that long goodnight. Perhaps I should try all that instead of making a sacrifice to a powerful being with ulterior motives.

The kid is freaking 6. He was probably going 'Ohhhh' over a drawing of Spider-man beating up a bad guy.

Wait she's holding onto the comic? That ***** is stealing library books!

See what I got out of the article was she didn't even read it, she heard him going 'Ooooh" and thought "ZOMG IT MUST BE PORN! AND HE IS GOING TO TO WANK OVER IT!"
and she thinks "comic books hold little literary value." Time to get the Censored Edition of Watchmen out! That will teach her the glory of comics!

Don't be absurd. :whatever:

She's from Nebraska. She'd had thought "JERK" instead of "WANK." :o

If there is any comic that she must make sure he never reads, it's the One More Day where Mephisto retcons everything. No child should be forced to read that garbage ever.

And if she wants a dowdy, unattractive MJ, just rent him the movies.

This kid is going to grow up to be some sort of sociopath thanks to mom's overbearing tendencies.

The article never really says what the mother found inappropriate though. Sure it mentions women in a bikini and short skirt, but never says that's what she found objectionable and I find it hard to believe she'd find that objectionable since that's really par for the course with comic books. Is this the first time the mother has looked at the art in a comic, almost every female in a comic is half naked.

I don't like that she is protesting it but are we seriously mocking a mother for not wanting her SIX year old to learn about sex? Just because she isn't going to teach him now doesn't mean when he is older she won't teach him or at least allow him to be taught.

But... But... She's stealing library books :csad:

This was the image in question. :o

I'd protest that too. Looks like MJ has gone Pokemon :down

Agreed. I do find it a bit odd a elementry school library would have such a book. They probably only have it because "It's Spider-man! And that means it's automaticaly for kids!".

We are mocking her for thinking an issue of Spider-Man is teaching him anything sexual at all.

The article actually has a video you can watch as well. In the video she actually points out some of the images she has a problem with. Her issue is that she is in skimpy clothing and in "seductive" poses. It's nothing worse than ANY comic book that has a woman in it. She's obviously never bothered to look through one before.

What I think it the most absurd is that she is keeping the comic until they decide if they are going to keep it in the library or not. If she doesn't want her kid to read it, that's fine. But by "holding onto it" she's basically deciding what's appropriate for the rest of the kids at school. Which is BS.

Incidentally, I actually know someone who has a kid that goes to school with her kid. He said she is a publicity ****e. She's a failed model and actress and has a tendency to drama everything up. I also thought one of the comments on the article was pretty funny. Calling her out for complaining about the seductive clothing and then wearing a skin tight white shirt during the interview showing off her knockers. :D
