To be perfectly honest I'm not entirely convinced that that comment was intended to be Alan Moore taking a dump on all modern writers...
I think it was more a comment regarding the state of the industry, and more specifically, the 2 big producers out there. That the nature of mainstream comics is such out there that there isn't any top-flight talent, or middle or even lower tier... It's all the same stuff and the industry itself leads to writers having less voice over the product than he's comfortable with, more steering towards directives from higher-ups. Leading to product that the writers can't stand behind good or bad... More that their name is just attached to it that they were a part of it.
And personally, I COULD see a Loeb jump on a Watchmen prequel or sequal and rape the hell out of it...
But at the same time I think some of Moore's comments come down to hyperbole and exagerration... but I think he makes some important observations that needed to be said.
