Anyone else getting really sick of the whole "Main Street," buzz word? Every frickin politician is saying it, the campaigns are saying it, hell even the news is saying it. I'm so sick of hearing about the people on "Main Street." :cmad:

Not as sick as I am of McCain baselessly labeling himself a "Maverick" every time he speaks, but yea, hearing political commentators, politicians, reporters, etc. say hundreds of times a day that "what happens to Wall Street affects Main Street" gets irritating.

The other New one is "Invest", it has replaced "Spending", because Investing has a positive connotation, were as Spend has a negative one.

I concur. I have been sick of the "Main Street" thing for awhile now.

Hmm...

Political buzzwords I'm sick of...

Terr'rists, Maverick, reform, spending, Main Street/Wall Street, lipstick, pitbull, Alaaska...

Oh! And 'gotcha journalism' and evil-doers.

I would say "Maverick" and "Palin" are the two most annoying political terms since "change."

"Change" is so overplayed. Obama needs to find a new synonym.

But the term "Maverick" and "maverickness" are quickly catching up with it.

You're all just trying to bring down the maverick reformer change-bringing lipsticked pitbulls.

Ya know the other two buzz words that I'm entirely sick to death of?

SEXIST.

SEXISM.

Barracudas and pitbulls and pigs, oh my! :wow:

Yeah... the animal metaphors have also overstayed their welcome.

It is kind of like a twisted version of 'the Wizard of Oz'. :hehe:

I want derivatives of "Moose" to become the new "it" word.

Mooseburger

Mooseburger Helper

Moose-eating Beeyotches

And etc.

it hasn't even been used that much, but i'm already tired of Palin claiming that she's a "joe six pack"...

Yeah, they're starting to use "Main Street" all the time. I get that it's an easy term to use, but maybe that's the problem?

I am sick of Obama always saying, "This is our moment", or "This is a defining moment."

Jeez...how long is this moment supposed to last?? Most only have 60 seconds to them. Waaaay overused now.

Another cliche Barack has been using a lot lately is "Fundamental difference." Everything is so "fundamental"...so much so, that even McCain is (over)using it now.

I swear, someone needs to get these men thesauruses for Christmas. :whatever:

By Christmas, one of them won't need it. :oldrazz:

"Gotcha Journalism". I've heard it two or three times and I'm already sick of it.

I find Change the DUMBEST of terms as well as annoying.

The reason is, Every damn person that gets in office will CHANGE something...that is the nature of the rotation of people... Even if you think McCain is a Bush clone...he will change things his own way.

I just wish he would avoid using it....it annoys me.

Does McCains "My friends" count?

I hate Main Street because Biden jams it down everyone's throat every time he mentions his home town of Scranton and how they know what is going on in America better than anyone else.
