Who do you think are some of the most feared heroes and villains in comic book history? Whether they be from DC, Marvel, Vertigo, Image, etc.

Joker is probably at the top of the list.

He's highly intelligent and can plan crimes years in advance and is also, in his own way, just as capable as the Batman at taking down who he wants to take down, including some of the heavy hitters of the DC universe.

The character i would most not want to bump into would be Joker and second would be Sinestro.

How about Galactus and Magneto? Galactus destorys planets so that's got to make him somewhat feared and I guess Magneto is only feared if you're a normal human.

And possibly Dark Phoenix and Thanos?

Yeah good call on the Saint of Killers.
Others that should be mentioned are Silver Surfer or any herald of Galactus as they are quite literally a harbinger of the end of the world. and Galactus himself of course as he IS the end of the world.

It all depends on what circles you move in. Hydra agents fear Squirrel Girl most and Wolverine second.
Vampires i imagine would fear Blade most.
Skrulls fear Reed Richards.
regular criminals fear Frank Castle.
Ultimate Shocker fears Ultimate Spiderman.

that sort of thing.

In the 30th Century of DC it was Mordru and the Fatal Five. Pre-Crisis 20th Century it was Starbreaker. Post Crisis I don't know of anybody that would fill those slots except Darkseid and I don't know how widely known he is.

Nobody ever seems too worried about the FF when they're up to no good.

The Joker and Kingpin would be my pick for villains.

The Creeper is probably highly underrated in this category.

He's not a lot different than the Joker, other than that he won't kill.

Very few people know anything about the Kingpin so I would think it doubtful if they would fear him. Much the same for the Joker. Outside of Gotham most people don't know much about him other than he is some crazy clown who gets his ass kicked by Batman every so often.
