I liked Narnia too.

If you like the books, you'll like the movie, I gather. I never read the books but the problem with the movie is the lame story that's obviously written toward other teenagers who feel a need for adventure. Like come on dragons who died if the dragonrider dies? A land controlled by an evil king, blah blah been there and done that all. The movie follows a rather formula driven plot so it's kind of boring, however the creature effects are cool and I really like the final fight scene.

well,I havent read the books, but it sounds like a knock off of LOTRs...

I concur. Harry Potter does suck!

actually, I know a couple of people who love the books (why, it's beyond me) and hate the movie (now that I can understand). they changed a lot, apparently.

This should have been mentioned With Pirates Of The Caribbean or Narnia but i agree no way is it Eragon the thing Harry Potter should fear i fantasy or get out of the way from. I think The Golden Compass will be the next big Fantasy hit.

The person who said Equilibrium was nowhere near as good as the Matrix, you should know it was not meant to be. In fact, it was meant to be a Dystopia story in the vein of "1984", "Fahrenheit 451," "Brave New World," and the Russian Masterpiece "WE." It pulled off and excellently, combining elements from all these stories and adding the threat of the death of emotions to what a government or society could do if we let it. He then put a nice action gloss on the outside of the deeper meaning to try and get the mainstream audience to see it, and to give it a happier ending.

Eragon looks like a movie that is being Over hyped because it may not be that great, but wait and see it for yourself, it maybe quite good.
It was advertised as better than the matrix, and it wasn't better thats all I'm saying. I enjoyed the movie,I like Bale just wasn't as good as matrix.

to anyone...PLEASE DO NOT PUT ERAGON AND THE LORD OF THE RINGS IN THE SAME SENTENCE!!!!

PLEASE!

The poster, nocomics, quite rightly pointed out the similarity between the way that Eragon was being marketed and hyped as the next Harry Potter and the way that Equilibrium was marketed and hyped as the next Matrix.

MurphyMan barged in with his size 6's, with a deconstruction of Equilibrium and the unfair parallels with the aforementioned Matrix, all the while missing the point by a mile, and ultimately coming across as rather tragic.

okies, with you now, you're referring to marketing not content. easy peasey.

However in England, the marketing for eragon has been more like the new LOTR instead. "The next great fantasy epic" and such like. And there has been a shortage of trailers in cinema's too, mainly just kept as carboard cut outs and posters.

Thought the international perspective might help.

ROTFALMAO! I wanna see/hear these ads!

If they really want it to be the next fantasy epic, the film-makers should grow attention spans and actually make the runtime longer than 100 minutes.

surely just making it a good film would be a nice start, but they can't even manage that
