Was there a movie that changed your mind about an actors talent? For me, Kirsten Dunst had never done anything to praise. She's been in good (or at least entertaining) movies but it was never her acting that contributed to it. Marie Antoinette was the first time I saw her in a good movie that was good because she was in it. Great roll for her.

Matt Damon in the Bourne movies.

Oh and I never paid much attention to Daniel Day-Lewis. I use to hear he was this amazing actor and whatnot but I never watched any of his films prior so I was a bit indifferent. Then I saw him play Bill The Butcher in Gangs of New York and that REALLY made me sit up and take notice of him, especially after seeing him in interviews where he both looks, sounds and feels like a COMPLETELY different person. Now after watching his other films, he is my FAVORITE actor.

Yeah, DiCaprio is another good one. However, my perception of him only changed after seeing The Departed and Blood Diamond.
I liked him after Romeo + Juliet, but didn't really respect him as an actor till the Aviator.

anthony hopkins and jodie foster... silence of the lambs
uma thurman, david carradine, lucy liu, daryl hannah, everyone in the kill bill movies

Ray gave me respect for Jaime Foxx. But, then Miami Vice took it away.

Keanu Reeves. After watching The Gift it made me appreciate him as a serious actor as he portrayed the abusive redneck husband perfectly.

If anything it convinced me to stay about 500 feet away from him.

For me it was DiCaprio in "The Departed". Before that, I thought he was overrated, but he was really good in it.

Same with Russell Crowe. Before "A Beautiful Mind", I thought he was overrated in "Gladiator". But my opinion changed after I saw him in this.

I think Russell Crowe became overrated BECAUSE of Gladiator and A Beautiful Mind. His best performance was in The Insider.

HAHAHAHAHA!! so true!

same with dicaprio to me... departed i loved him...blood diamond he had a horrible fake accent lol

Monica Bellucci in Irreversible and Malena (amongst others), Jim Caviezel in The Passion of the Christ, Naomi Watts and Andy Serkis in Peter Jackson's King Kong, Ivana Baquero in Pan's Labyrinth, Ellen Page in Hardy Candy, Natalie Mendoza and Shauna MacDonald in The Descent, Mel Gibson and Angus MacFadyen in Braveheart, Rudy Youngblood in Apocalypto, Anthony Hopkins and Gary Oldman in pretty much everything, pretty much the entire Lord of the Rings ensamble (except mayble Bloom and Tyler), Sylvester Stallone in Rocky Balboa...

dicaprio after departed, great performance

justin long after die hard, i dont really respect him, but for me he was able to break away from the comedy movies (dodgeball, accepted)

milla jakovich after 5th element. i saw her first through the Resident Evil movies and thought she was nothing special. but, this movie i think she did a great job with her character

Yeah I gained alot of respect for Dicaprio as an actor in the past year. I saw The Aviator, The Departed, and Blood Diamond in the last year with Basketball Diaries, Catch Me If You Can, Titanic, The Man in the Iron Mask, and Gangs of New York wedged between.

My guess is that with four movies coming out in 2008(Body of Lies, Freedom Within the Heart, The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt, and The Chancellor Manuscript) he will get his Oscar and maybe even double nominated.

Leo as Teddy Roosevelt is something I can't picture and MUST SEE:

Teddy Roosevelt wasn't ALWAYS fat. My guess is he'll play him in the Spanish-American War.

Hugo Weaving - V for Vendetta (for expressing more emotion from behind a mask than any of the other cast members did.)

yea but Hugo Weaving is incredible in absolutely every movie... when he's in a movie, it's guaranteed great - even Transformers :woot:

Other people...
Reese Witherspoon in Rendition - I used to think she was a cheezy actress who just did ditzy blonde roles... but now I realized she is Oscar worthy (and no I didnt like Walk the Line)

Steve Buscemi in Interview - I used to think he was just this cheesy comedic actor, but he's actually a great person and can act phenomenally.

Vin Diesel in Pitch Black. And I'm not even kidding.

I saw that movie back when it first came out before he was the Fast and the Furious guy or XXX gay, where no one really knew who he was. He was such a badass in that movie man, and he played it totally amazing. When I saw it I was like "Woa, this dude's awesome".

Nowadays? Not so much.

brad pitt in fight club

hell yes. this is when he went from being every woman's fave pretty boy actor to being THE MAN among guy fans. Tyler Durden made Pitt's career, if you ask me, because that was his big crossover role, making tons of guys Pitt fans.

LadyBoy DiCaprio: Try him in whats eating gilbert grape. he was astonishing in that.

Brad Pitt: in Kalifornia. taking into account he made his name as a pretty boy in Thelma & Louise, and Johnny Suede, to then play a character as jaw droppingly nasty as Early Grayce, and play him well....
More than any actor, even more than DiCaprio, i think Brad Pitt's ability as an actor is ignored cos he's good looking

Russel Crowe: Romper Stomper

Daniel day Lewis: My Beautiful launderette, My Left Foot

Eric Bana: Chopper.

Ill add to that: Hugh jackman (I had seen him on stage before X men), but i recently watched him in Erskenville Kings. He is brilliant in that
