Movies That Were Good Until...

They ran through ruins in this movie if you noticed?

But that was the 1950's. People here seem to be living more in nostalgia than embracing a new era for Indy to live in. I think the wait added more to the story. If they made it a few years after, it would of taken place in the 40's. And those other scripts just sounded bland. It was just a straight up alien story.

You put it in the 50's an exclude aliens, it's just pointless to include anything else. Anybody who lived back then can tell you aliens were a huge part of that time period. B movies, drive ins, etc. The 30's was completely different. And I loved seeing Indy out of his element. That added more to his character. Seeing him in Doom Town in the beginning surrounded by all the fake 50's imagry was great.

How was it poor? I can see in execution with the reveal, like I said, it should mave been more mysterious, the alien in a mist and only seeing his eyes and outline or something. And the space ship was a bit much for me. But the plot itself was great. And it was better than bringing the atlantis story to the screen which should only be left for the game. And it wasn't something people expected to see. Indy has always gone through crazy ****.

I just couldn't get into the film like I did with the original trilogy. From the annoying sidekick to the laughable villain -- it was too much for me. For me, the film was nowhere near as exciting as the originals were. In the end, the film felt like more of an immitation than an actual sequel.

SW: AOTC until after Obi-Wan and Anakin appeared in the elevator and talked about being nervous and more god d*** Gundarks.

US' Godzilla comes to mind. While I think its a good movie with a nice buildup and great music, it turns into an over the top embarassment once they escape from Madison Square Garden

Hancock - what started out as superhero who hates having his powers and then having to deal with newfound celebrity status does a wrong turn when all of a sudden Charlize Theron has superpowers as well.

So I take it Episode29 is the new official JAL ball-buster?

A-OK with muah.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine - The movie was mediocre at the beginning, getting lamer and lamer as the film went on. I finally lost interest totally when the had Wolverine box the Blob.

Spider-Man 3: Sandman, Emo Peter, crybaby Peter, dancing Peter, Sandman & Venom becoming BFFs...

Careful the hardcore fans might attack.

The latest Indiana Jones was amazing, I'm sorry..

My only beef was when Shia was monkey-swinging in the trees..............................

That was a bit too much to cope with IMHO.....

Knowing.... It was okay for me untill they started going all out with the two disaster scenes.... ... the single cut idea was brilliant in the plane crash... but both the plane and Subway stuff was jsut too violent for the movie... hell even the
Solar flare frying Earth wasn't as violent

But it was the last scene that destroyed any enjoyment i had in the movie.

Yeah, but you're reasoning goes against the entire concept of the symbiote, in every telling of the symbiote outside of the movie, Peter become more aggressive and dangerous when he's got the suit on. Only in the movie does he just strut down the street pointing at girls. Hell the taglines for the movie got it better than the movie, the greatest fight is the fight against the darkness within, struting down the street pointing at girls doesn't say dark to me, it just says *****e. Now, spending more and more time in the suit, becoming more aggressive towards criminals, that says dark side to me.

The original story in Amazing Spider-man did not have the symbiote making him more aggressive or dangerous.
The adverse effects it had on him where that it would exhaust him by taking him out at night while he slept and that it didn't want to leave his body.
It was the animated series that did the storyline about it making him more aggressive etc.
I forgot about this until recently when I was reminded of it somewhere.

We did get the storyline of Spidey being more aggresive with criminals, the fights with Sandman and Harry, but they should have been in public imo, so the publice could have turned against him again.
They hinted at more going on with the photos of him fighting bikers etc, they should have shown stuff like that but I imagine only have a budget for so much Spidey sfx.

I liked the Saturday Night Parker scene, very funny and it fit with what was happening with him characterwise. It's better than but having him completely flip into evildom by way of losing all his previous charater traits. It shows how a person can still be the same dorky geek but with the little changes creeping in completely change his character gradually.

Spalko was a much etter villan than Donavan. He was just kind of bland for my taste. But how was it an immitation? People had the same reaction to when TOD came out. They thought it was too dark. But it made perfect sense. People just want everything to feel like Raiders. That's not right. As good as the darabont script is, it felt like an immitation of Raiders in tone. Having an alien like mcguffin with religious and ancient sensibilities was a different direction and fresh and made it stand like the other three films.

Dude, I don't want this to drag out into a long argument. My left hand's broken and I just woke up -- I'm not in the mood. You have your opinion and I have mine. To be honest, I haven't seen LotKS since its release so I'm due for another watch since I can barely remember anything.:o

JP2: Introducing the black girl as his son,was like WTF.

Indiana Jones 4: Soon as I seen Shia and his slicked black hair on a motorcycle 10x too big for him,it sealed the fate for the movie for me.Plus the whole alien thing.

Alien Ressurrection: the hybrid alien was just terrible kindof ruined what was a oky movie.

War: the hyped up fight between LI and Stathem was short lived and terrible.

Wait, it was originally his son?

Him having an african-american daughter kind of threw me off too...

The kids in the book were unrelated to Malcolm.

And what's so weird about Malcolm having a black daughter? He said in the first movie that he has had multiple wives and children, is it that hard to believe that one might have been black?

Dr. Ian Malcolm: I love kids! Anything at all *can* and *does* happen... Same with wives, for that matter...

Dr. Alan Grant: You married?
Dr. Ian Malcolm: Occasionally.

Dr. Ian Malcolm: I'm always on the lookout for the future ex-Mrs. Malcolm.

This is a thread about movies that were good until certain scenes in the film that killed it for you.

My list:

Jurassic Park 2: I really enjoyed this movie a lot and I remember watching it, thinking it was the greatest, most un-flawed movie ever. Until I watched it again like 2 months ago and I realized all the flaws and Vince Vaughn. The scene that really shut me out was When they captured the T-Rex and transported it back to the United States and, after the ship crashed and the crew were found dead. WITH NO EXPLANATION.

There were supposed to be velociraptors on board as well, but it was nixed. I agree though, it bothers me, even with knowing that

Jason X: Jason had I guess 'de-thawed' and started his killing spree, he killed the girl with some freeze thing and smashed her face in and how FAKE the prop head looked. That or the scene with the victims tricking him in the virtual camp setting.

When they cut back to Jason smashing the sleeping bag (with the girls in them) into the tree is one of the funniest moments in cinematic history.

AVP: REALLY good movie up until Predator BFF'd the girl and they were running together like intergalactic warriors.

AVP: R, besides the entire movie being terrible, here's a small list:
-The Predalien in the nursery, that scene literally pissed me off. They took it too far there, for my likes.
-The people fleeing to a gun story and saying the worst/most cliche line ever: 'We need guns!".
-The fact that a hand gun (a regular 9MM) killed an Xenomorph.
- After the town was nuked and the helicopter crashed and everyone is surprisingly OK after SURVIVING a CRASH via NUCLEAR BLAST and the writters had the guts to write in the WORST LINE EVER, "Next time, let me drive".

don't disagree with this, but my biggest issue was the lighting - it was so ******edly dark for the entire movie, i felt like i like an emo kid sitting alone in my room cutting myself

other than that, can't think if anything now :/

AVP:R was apparently more awful than I thought if that ending is true. I stopped watching around the scene with the Predator killing the Alien and melting that kid's face.

AVP. The cool opening shot and then the rest went to hell.

I always assumed malcom adopted the black girl. And as he mentions he loves kids.

*Lucius Fox*

Fair enough.

Year One was good... right up until the trailers ended and the film began. Then it was just terrible.
