Movies That Were Good Until...

Dusk Till Dawn was awesome at it ending. And Keital was badass. And Salma Hayek. How can you be bored of that? Not to mention George Clooney was actually a badass. It showed under the right direction he could of made a great Batman. Ironic since this was the movie Shumacher saw him in to cast him and then we all know how that turned out...

Foreshadowing is good but for an already established character, not just bring in a new character and say he/she is a computer whiz because you know in the middle of the movie his/hers computer skills will be needed, now that is lazy writing.

It's better to deal with it earlier than actually explain it in that moment. If they didn't explain it, all of a sudden it would of been a "what the hell? How can she suddenly hack a computer?" And when she mentioned it, it's not in your face, they're walking and it's brother and sister bickering.

Yeah, I Am Legend was pretty bad from start to finish. I was willing to give it a chance until Will Smith started talking to the mannequins. It was supposed to be sad and emotional but it just made me laugh my ass off. To pull something like that off, you need a much better actor than Smith, I don't care how much money his movies rake in at the box office. And even then, I'm not sure it would work.

Once the cartoon zombies show up, the movie became a massive fail. When the kid and his mom got there, it just made the whole movie even more lame because it proves that the movie poster lied to you. WILL SMITH IS THE LAST MAN ON EARTH. Um, no... he's the last man in New York.

Hehehe, yeah the cg was pretty horrible. But really, who didn't cry or at least get teary eyed when he had to kill his dog?

Like I said, the first half is great, and the opening has a great chase, and a wonderful suspenseful sequence when he goes into the bridge or wherever. Seeing that in IMAX made it scary as hell. But jeez, did they have to have the woman and kid show up?

Batman forever was quite good... until Dick went riding in the Batmobile.

No Country For Old Men

I really liked this movie until the third act when Moss is killed off-screen. We're following this guy the entire film and it just happens without warning. Then the rest is just super-depressing. Ooh, so artsy.

Also...

The Departed

Great until Leo exits the elevator and TWIST there was another mole who kills Leo without warning.

I have to agree with this. I actually had to rewind the movie because I didn't think it was him when they showed him the first time.

Oh, you mean right after he performed the martial arts laundry routine?

im not sure... i try not to remember wat Robin says or does... but the batmobile scene was so lame and corny that i cant forget it :csad:

Oh please. :whatever: It's unconventional and when those two die it's not a super dramatic slo mo sort of death. It's quick and sudden and best of all unexpected. And it shows that these kind of situations in real life don't always pan out in the end. Honestly how did you expect those two to get out of it? That's what's great. We pull for these guys and before we know it they're dead. Exactly like real life. And it's ballsy and doesn't turn into that happy ending. And really, with mlovies like this, did you expect some sort of happy ending?

And for God's sake man spoiler tags!

Well said Dr.! Lets not forget The Departed wouldn't have been as cathartic as it was had Leo lived.

Hancock - what started out as superhero who hates having his powers and then having to deal with newfound celebrity status does a wrong turn when all of a sudden Charlize Theron has superpowers as well.

I figured that out by just watching trailers and interviews. It's never a good thing when you can figure out the "big twist" before watching the movie.

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith - As soon as coughing General Grievous appeared on the screen.

Wha...? Grievous was the best thing about that movie. In fact he was the best thing about all of the prequels. Apart from Yoda vs Sideous.

Ahem, and the lightsaber duals from TPM and ROTS.

However, Grevious was a coward because of his condition and he was an essential part oto the war.

But in the cartoon he was badass. Especially his introduction. And I must say, that first voice I like more. "Jeeeediii."

I just think people are spoiled and used to the "happy ending."
Well, I must say, if you are, you won't like alot of Scorsese's movies. So when a movie comes along and doesn't have one, you gotta love it. If they're good that is. I like my ending ambiguous or not happy. Sometimes happy, but that's awfly boring these days.

The new Friday the 13th

I thought the opening scene was somewhat enjoyable and decent, but after that I had a hard time finishing the film.

What really made me disappointed in the Departed is how it uhm... departed from the ending of Infernal Affairs by
having Matt Damon's character die.
It sort of misses one of the bigger points of the film it was remaking in doing so.

Haven't seen Infernal Affairs yet.

But again,
Dignam knew Sullivan was lying about everything all along. If you look closely you can catch little looks from Dignam from him knowing. HIm pestering him didn't mean he was joking. He was serious and knew. And he was the only one who knew about him. He wanted real justice done, because to him, it wasn't being done at all.

I actually thought all the stuff with Will and the Mannequins was very well done. I think Smith's a phenomenal actor, just watch Ali and Pursuit of Happiness, and if you still think he's a bad actor after that, then I would love to see what you think a good actor is, because they must be simply amazing.

You didn't like the saber duals in PM and ROTS? I thought those were some of the best things in the movie. The Darth Maul fight is still one my favorite moments in a cinema (yeah the movie wasn't that great, but at that time, we had never seen anything like that) and I thought the lighsaber fights in ROTS were very well done. Especially the ending fight with Obi Wan and Annakin.

Why do we need spoiler tags for movies over a year old? Smith dies at the end of I am Legend, Damon, and Leo die at the end of The Departed, Brolin dies at the end of NCFOM, and the villian gets away.

Oh and Snape Kills Dumbledore. :funny:

Umm... I loved them. I was responding to Ace's post.

Those were technically the best parts of the movie. But at the same time, with all the advanced choreography, technology they had, I couldn't have really cared any less about them because I simply did not care about the characters at that point. At all.

And that's why, to me, that last fight, especially that last sequence, with Luke and Vader remains the best light saber duel of all the movies.
