Movies with opening scenes better than the climax

Ye, it was a great moment, but just the whole finale felt anti climatic and seemed like it was forced into the script just so he would get to say the lines.

You mention X2 which is completely correct. The Nightcrawler White House scene was on a very different level to the rest of the action in the film.

Agreed on X2.

I'm counting Kill Bill volumes 1 and 2 as one long movie.

Beginning: The Bride and Copperhead kick each others ass in one of the most intense fight scenes I've ever seen on film.

End: The title character walks 5 steps and dies.

Raiders of the lost ark...

now, dont get me wrong...its awesome at the end where everyone gets owned by the ark...but the most memorable thing about the movie is indy getting chased by a rolling ball...

The beginning was simply that awesome...

You're braver than I am. I went with last crusade and still got stung by Indy fanboys.

Blade 1, the Bloodbath scene. Best opening scene in ANY superhero movie, ever! And the coolest intro of a superhero..Blade standing there, motionlesss as vamps starting crapping themselves saying..."It's the Daywalker!"
NICE!

pulp fiction... wait which scene was the end and which scene the begining:huh:

how bout the armageddon movies???

Armageddon
Deep Impact
The Day After Tomorrow

Can any of them honestly, truly say the last scene is as exciting and as memorable as the first?

Back Stabbing, being chased by crazy tribes...and the rolling ball.

The Ark scenes not bad, mind you, but its definetely not as thrilling as the beginning

No, No they can't Batman. That openning was pure genius in motion.

Yep. Best ever.

Alex Rider

The entire movie was crap crap crap but the opening with Ewan McGregor was cool.

I agree with most of those except for Blade. I'd put the Bloodbath sequence and the final two battles (Blade vs. the foot soldiers and Blade vs. Frost) as pretty much equal.

Ye, whilst I agree the opening to Blade was fantastic, the end fights were just as brilliant.

A better fight scene, for sure. But the death of Bill was an amazing scene.

I guess it depends on one thinks is a "better scene." If one means in an action sense, the open is probably better than the climax, but if you mean in a dramatic sense, then the climax is probably even better than the open.

I noticed more people were raving about the opening fight scene in Spider-Man 3 (Harry attacking Peter) than the climactic royal rumble. Thinking back, there are a number of films which peak far too soon, and have the most exciting moment at the start, when it should be at the end. The Hollywood method is, "start with a bang, and build up to a climax," but too many flicks have a finale that doesn't match the early levels of excitement.

X2

Opening: Nightcrawler invades the White House. Breathtaking, spectacular, still the greatest action scene in the X-Men series.

Climax: A lot of running around in a bunker. Also, Wolverine's fight with Deathstrike is shown far too early - it should be taking place as the place is collapsing to be truly climactic.

^
So true, they could of topped that fight if they didn't rely on Wolverine for the last fight in the movie.

but they acknowledge that...Smith has the oracles powers of premonition, and sees that it's that particular Smith who kills Neo, so he has no need to use the others.

Yeah, but Neo vs 100 Smiths is a much better climax.

Superman Returns is one of the best examples I can think of. The 747 save was incredible... The rest of the action...

The plane scene wasn't really the opening scene though

I can't agree. The bloodbath scene was so unique, there's no way any other movie can do it without someone saying "They got that from Blade". In fact i can't think of any other movie that even comes close to implying where Goyer and co got the idea from, so the scene is truly one of a kind. We've seen final battles, whether mono on mono, or against several enemies in just about every hero based movie that's out there....

First, I'm not speaking about other movies, I'm talking about solely this one. Second, sure there have been final battles like that in other movies, but few, if any, were as badass as Blade's.

Well then, you really can't compare badass finale battles against other movie final battles - in reference to you just saying 'few were as badass as Blade's'. I just don't think the final battle was all that great compared to the opening, is all. :yay:
