Movies you tried to watch but couldn't sit through

Tron. It took me a few times to watch it without falling asleep

Van Wilder 2: Rise of the Taj. It was just awful and I turned it off after twenty minutes.

Epic Movie. I was forced into it but luckily I fell asleep.

Twilight. Never tried the sequels. Never will. Also Jonah Hex, Catwoman, Ghost Rider to name a few comic book movies.

Green Lantern took two tries. Waste of time in hindsight.

Tron. It took me a few times to watch it without falling asleep.

That happened to me too. I tried twice(since I actually liked the original and have seen it many times) but both times I fell asleep half-way. I gave up trying after that so I've never seen it all the way through.

2001: A Space Odyssey
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Bangkok Dangerous
Kick-Ass
Paranormal Activity 3, went with friends to see it and fell asleep. Does that count?

The Starsky And Hutch remake. It's also the only movie I've ever walked out of the cinema over.

This year:
Your Highness
Immortals
Conan The Barbarian

Shallow Hal
Meet The Parents

2001: A Space Odyssey

Took several tries to be honest.
Next up Barry Lyndon

OMG yes to 2001. I consider it an anti-movie. I've never met anyone who sat through the whole thing without fast forwarding it.

Took me two times to manage On Stranger Tides. I tried watching Tron about 3 times. Tried watching Horrible Bosses and Your Highness. Realized Jennifer and Natalie were my only reasons for each, and their roles really weren't enough to make me care about those movies. I watched The Debt last night. Thought it was going to get turned off, but then the movie really got going once Vogel was captured and I ended up riveted until the end. I'm becoming a bigger and bigger fan of Sam Worthington.

There is a portion of it that get's everyone but outside of that "safe zone" wow.
Whenever I hear a review to a modern film claiming "lack of plot" I always think back to my experience with 2001.

At the end of the day it works for some people but it definitely is one of those hard to get though films for me.

Transformers 2

Ronin
Twilight
Dogville
The Spirit
Alice in Wonderland (Tim Burton)
White Noise

I have a few:

The Godfather Trilogy (shocking I know)
Avatar
Twilight Saga
Flags of our Fathers ( I actually walked out on it)
Doctor Zhivago

Batman: Year One.

I was really looking forward to it and the animation was nice but OC guys monotone, dull and deadpan voice for Batman/Wayne took me way out of it.

Couldn't do it. I'll probably finish it one of these days because Cranston's Gordon was incredible but a shame that they had to hire Ben for Batman. A giant misstep in choosing an appropriate VA for the job.

Ghost World
Took a few tries, and i still think it stinks.

Borat.
My dvd player spat it out after 27 minutes. I was so relieved. Not even remotely funny, just awkward and frustrating.

I don't know if this counts.
Cloverfield. I did finish it, but really really wished I had not. If it had not been for the fact that I was not alone I would have left.

The original Bad Lieutenant. The killing of the nun scene cross cut with the crucifiction of Jesus did it for me.

I had to start The Third Man three times before I could watch it all the way through. And guess what, I still didn't like the movie at all.

I was eh on Ghost World. I keep looking at the DVD box and wondering why and how it made it on so many top ten lists. I guess the same way that ****** American Beauty did.

Yeah, there are some movies out there who seemed to get unversal praise but their appeal was completely lost on me too. Among them:

The Royal Tenenbaums
Lost in Translation (and pretty much anything else by Sofia Coppola)
Into the Wild

I guess the "right" people and critics liked it. The movie going public felt like they were watching something indy, quirky and artsy without having to stray too far from the safety and predictability of the mainstream.

The Mummy 3. It took me three days to get through that abomination, and I am not kidding about that.

Steve Buscemi was the only reason I made it through that movie.

I'll have to see Lost in Translation again, it never really appealed to me the first time. I really enjoyed The Royal Tenenbaums though.
