True Blood alumna Amelia Rose Blaire is returning to the horror genre with a pivotal role in MTV’s Scream, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Blaire, who co-starred as Eric’s progeny Willa Burrell on HBO’s late vampire drama, will recur on Scream as Piper Shay, the smart, quirky host of a wildly popular podcast who comes to town to investigate the recent deaths.

Additional Scream cast members include Willa Fitzgerald (Royal Pains) as shy-yet-popular Emma Duvall, Bex Taylor-Klaus (Arrow) as preacher’s daughter Aubrey Jensen and Carlson Young (Key and Peele) as bubbly ringleader Brooke Maddox.

Scream makes its MTV debut on Tuesday, June 30.

I've been being cautiously optimistic about this show ever since it was announced, despite being rather disappointed that it probably means we won't be getting a Scream 5. I'm a huge fanboy of the series so I've still kept my hopes up.

That being said...
The trailer didn't sell me at all. It just doesn't look like Scream. That quick glimpse of the mask was horrible too. I don't get why they couldn't just stick with what works.

Ryan murphy's scream queens looks more like scream than this show.... It also stars Emma Roberts from scream 4 lol.

I can't fault them for trying to do something different and even altering the classic mask. I'm sure the mask will wind up looking good and will be the least of this show's problems.

I don't have high hopes, by any means, but I'm willing to give this a shot because I love the Scream franchise.

Same for the mask. I'm willing to see how it works in context before writing it off.

It just looks less like Scream and more like something that Scream would have ridiculed.
